The annual solar eclipse will be visible to Sri Lanka on the 26th of December 2019. This will be a great visual feast for all Sri Lankan photographers. Photographing a solar eclipse can be challenging, and to get the best shot the optics must be in great condition, free from fungus and other issues.

Fungus on lens elements may grow completely unnoticed because it's hard to spot image degradation for the casual viewer. The most glaring evidence of fungus is a soft glow around highlights. However to ensure you may open the aperture and look through from the rear end of the lens and tiny veins of fungus may be visible. Neglecting fungal growth has it's consequences. It can slowly eat up the protective coatings and make your lens completely unusable.
