Ixora coccinea (Jungle Geranium) - රත්මල්

Jungle Geranium is a common flowering shrub native to Sri Lanka, Southern India, and Bangladesh. It is a dense, multi-branched evergreen shrub that produces small tubular, scarlet flowers in dense, rounded clusters. Yellow, pink, and orange flower variants can also be found. The flowers, leaves, roots, and stems of this plant are used to treat various ailments in the Ayurvedic traditional system of medicine, as well as in various folk medicines.

Spilopelia chinensis (Spotted Dove) - අළු කොබෙයියා

The spotted dove is a small and somewhat long-tailed pigeon that is a common resident breeding bird across its native range on the Indian subcontinent and in East and Southeast Asia. It is also called the eastern spotted dove, mountain dove, pearl-necked dove, lace-necked dove, and spotted turtle-dove. The species is found in light forests and gardens as well as in urban areas.
This species was formerly included in the genus Streptopelia with other turtle-doves, but studies suggest that they differ from typical members of that genus. This dove is long-tailed brown with a white-spotted black collar patch on the back and sides of the neck. The tail tips are white, and the wing coverts have light buff spots.

Oriolus xanthornus (Black-hooded Oriole) - කහ කුරුල්ලා

The Black-hooded Oriole is a distinctive medium-sized yellow bird with a black head and breast, black flight feathers, and a red bill. They are commonly found in South Asia, including Sri Lanka. These birds thrive in a variety of habitats, such as forests, gardens, and urban parks. They are often spotted perched on treetops or flitting through the canopy. Black-hooded Orioles are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, nectar, and insects.

Merops philippinus (Blue-tailed Bee-eater) - නිල්පෙඳ බිඟුහරයා

The blue-tailed bee-eater is a bee-eater species mostly seen in open habitats close to water. They are widely distributed across South and Southeast Asia, where many populations are strongly migratory, and are seen seasonally in many parts. But they breed colonially in small areas across their range, mostly in river valleys, where they nest by tunnelling into loamy sand banks.
This species, like other bee-eaters, is a richly coloured, slender bird. It is predominantly green; its face has a narrow blue patch with a black eye stripe, and a yellow and brown throat; the tail is blue, and the beak is black. This species predominantly eats flying insects, especially bees, wasps and hornets, which are caught in the air by sorties from an open perch.

Psittacula krameri (Rose-ringed Parakeet) - මාල ගිරවා

The rose-ringed parakeet, also known as the ring-necked parakeet, is a medium-sized parrot that has a disjunct native range in tropical northern Africa and the Indian subcontinent. They have been introduced to many other parts of the world due to feral populations establishing themselves, having been bred for the exotic pet trade and then escaping.
They are one of the few parrot species that have successfully adapted to living in disturbed habitats; it has withstood the onslaught of urbanization and deforestation. As a popular pet species, escaped birds have colonized a number of cities around the world, including populations in northern and western Europe. They can live in a variety of climates outside their native range and are able to survive low winter temperatures in northern Europe.

Pavo cristatus (Indian Peafowl) - ඉන්දියානු මොනරා

The Indian peafowl, also known as the blue peafowl, is a species of peafowl native to the Indian subcontinent. The peafowl lives mainly on the ground in open forests or on cultivable lands where it forages for berries and grains, and also preys on snakes, lizards and small rodents. It forages on the ground in small groups and usually escapes on foot through undergrowth and avoids flying, though it flies into tall trees to roost.
The Indian peafowl displays a marked form of sexual dimorphism. The brightly coloured male has a blue coloured head with a handfan-shaped crest and is best known for his long train. The train is made up of elongated upper-tail covert feathers with colourful eyespots. These stiff feathers are raised into a fan in a display during courtship. The peahen is predominantly brown in colour, with a white face and iridescent green lower neck, and lacks the elaborate train.

Ratufa macroura (Grizzled Giant Squirrel) - දඩුලේනා

The grizzled giant squirrel is a large tree squirrel found in the highlands of the Central and Uva provinces of Sri Lanka, and in patches of riparian forest along the Kaveri River and in the hill forests of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala states of southern India.
Grizzled giant squirrels are named for the white flecks of hair that cover their greyish-brown bodies, giving them a grizzled look. This species is the smallest of the giant squirrels found in the Indian subcontinent. It has small, rounded ears with pointed tufts. They are known to eat fruits, nuts, insects, bird eggs, and the bark of some trees.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists the species as near threatened due to habitat loss and hunting.

දඩුලේනුන් ඔවුන්ගේ අළු-දුඹුරු පැහැති සිරුරු ආවරණය කරන සුදු පැහැති කෙස් පැල්ලම් සඳහා නම් කර ඇති අතර එමඟින් ඔවුන්ට අළු පැහැති පෙනුමක් ලබා දේ. මෙම විශේෂය ඉන්දියානු උපමහාද්වීපයේ දක්නට ලැබෙන කුඩාම යෝධ ලේනුන් වේ. එයට උල් වූ ලෝම සහිත කුඩා, වටකුරු කන් ඇත. ඔවුන් පලතුරු, ඇට වර්ග, කෘමීන්, කුරුළු බිත්තර සහ සමහර ගස්වල පොත්ත අනුභව කරන බව දන්නා කරුණකි.

Crossandra infundibuliformis (Firecracker Flower) - ක්‍රොසැන්ඩ්‍රා

The firecracker flower is a species of flowering plant native to Angola, Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sri Lanka, India, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The plant is an erect, evergreen shrub with unusually shaped flowers with 3 to 5 asymmetrical petals. They grow from four-sided stalked spikes and have a tube-like stalk. Flower colours range from the common orange to salmon-orange or apricot, coral to red, yellow and even turquoise.

ක්‍රොසැන්ඩ්‍රා මල යනු ඇන්ගෝලාව, බුරුන්ඩි, ඉතියෝපියාව, කෙන්යාව, සෝමාලියාව, ශ්‍රී ලංකාව, ඉන්දියාව සහ කොංගෝ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී ජනරජයට ආවේණික සපුෂ්ප ශාක විශේෂයකි.

Thunbergia grandiflora (Bengal Clockvine) - වැල් නිල් මල්

Bengal Clockvine is an evergreen vine in the family Acanthaceae. It is native to China, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indochina, and Myanmar and widely naturalised elsewhere. Common names for this flower include Bengal trumpet, blue skyflower, and blue thunbergia.
Plants may grow to about 20 metres in height and have a long root system with a deep tap root that can be as large as a small car.

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (Tropical Hibiscus) - වද මල්

The Tropical Hibiscus, also known as the shoe flower, is an artificial hybrid created in cultivation during the pre-Columbian era by Polynesians in the West Pacific from the species Hibiscus cooperi and H. kaute. It thrives in tropical and subtropical regions across South China, Asia, Africa, and America, adapting well to diverse environments.
The Hibiscus flower can be used as a pH indicator. When used, the flower turns acidic solutions into a dark pink or magenta colour, and turns basic solutions to green. In several countries, the flowers are dried to use in a tea-like beverage.
