✅ 159th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya✅

The 159th General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya was held ceremoniously on the 17th of August 2026 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo.
The convocation ceremony consisted of 03 sessions. During the 1st session, 115 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accountancy, 129 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Human Resources, 01 graduand of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) in Human Resources, 95 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Marketing, 01 graduand of the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) in Marketing, 42 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Digital Marketing, and 63 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Finance, offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, were conferred.
At this session, Mr Mohamed Kabir Mohamed Fazil was awarded the Kirivatthuduwe Pragnasara Thero Memorial Gold Medal offered by the Alumni Association of the University of Kelaniya for obtaining the highest GPA at the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, and the Gold Medal offered by the Chartered Institute of Personal Management for obtaining the Highest GPA of the year in the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Human Resource Management. Mr Mohamed Shakeer Nizar was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka for obtaining highest marks for the Internship in Accountancy subject in following Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accountancy Degree, the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Certified Management Accounts of Sri Lanka for obtaining highest marks for the Management Accounting Subjects in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accountancy Degree, the Gold Medal offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants for the most outstanding student of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accountancy Degree, and the Gold Medal offered by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants for obtaining highest marks in the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accountancy Degree. Ms Embuldeniyage Buddhini Ruwani was awarded the Gold Medal presented by Singer Sri Lanka PLC for ‘The HR Student of the Year’ in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Human Resource Management. Mr Wasala Mudiyanselage Chathuryanga Jithesh Wasala was awarded the Gold Medal presented by Generation Next Communications Lanka (Pvt) Ltd for ‘The Outstanding Student Performer’ in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Human Resource Management. Ms Badal Gedara Nirasha Thathsarani was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Sri Lanka Telecom for obtaining the highest GPA in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Marketing Degree. Mr Akmeemana Obada Mudalige Pathum Pabasara was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Dilmah Ceylon Tea Company PLC for the best all round student in academic, sports and extra-curricular activities in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Marketing Degree. Ms Nangallage Antonette Amali Dewminie Fernando was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Ogilvy Digital PVT LTD for obtaining the highest GPA in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Digital Marketing Degree and the Gold Medal presented by the Roar Global for the best all round student in academic, sports and extra -curricular activities in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Digital Marketing Degree. Ms Manannale Gedara Pavithra Darshani Kanchana Pitawala was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) for the Highest GPA holder of Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance. Ms Elgiriya Vitharanage Nimashini Savindi was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Colombo Stock Exchange for the Highest GPA holder of Capital Market related subjects in the Department of Finance and the Gold Medal presented by the Institute of Certified Management Accounts of Sri Lanka for obtaining the highest GPA for the subjects related to Management Accounting and Financial Accounting. Mr Pushpanadan Kings Karon was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society, Sri Lanka for the most outstanding student of Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance.
During the 2nd session, 100 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree, 66 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Financial Engineering, 29 graduands of the Business Management Honours in Banking and Finance, 28 graduands of the Business Management Honours in Insurance and Finance, 52 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Financial Management, 01 graduand of the Bachelor of Commerce (Special) in Financial Management, 44 graduands of the Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Business Technology, 25 graduands of the Commerce Honours in Entrepreneurship, 42 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accounting Information Systems, and 42 graduands of the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Auditing and Forensic Accounting, offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, and 14 graduands of the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Buddhist Studies, offered by the Faculty of Humanities, were conferred.
At this session, Ms Shenali Diyon Fernando was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Bank of Ceylon for being the most outstanding student in all the Bachelor’s Honours examinations of Faculty of the Commerce and Management Studies for the academic year 2023/2024. Ms Morakanda Gamage Pabodha Nethmini was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Edinborough Products (Pvt) Ltd, for obtaining the highest GPA in the Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree. Mr Adeesha Vikum Abeydheera was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Business Technology Association for obtaining the highest GPA in the Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Business Technology Degree and the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) for being the most outstanding student across all the Degree programmes awarded by the Department of Commerce and Financial Management. Ms Pondim Baduge Aneesha Madhushani Perera was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Certified Management Accounts of Sri Lanka for obtaining the highest GPA in Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Financial Management Degree and the Gold Medal offered by the Mr. Linus Silva Scholarship Fund for obtaining the highest GPA across all Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree programmes awarded by the Department of Commerce and Financial Management. Ms Rosheli Priyanjali De Zilva was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Young Entrepreneurs Association, for obtaining the highest GPA in the Bachelor of Commerce Honours Entrepreneurship Degree. Mr Murugaanandham Thanujan was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Colombo Stock Exchange for presenting the best dissertation related to Capital Market in Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Financial Management. Ms Ridmi Thisara Pathinayake was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Internal Auditors Lanka Chapter (IIALC) for being the most outstanding student in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Auditing and Forensic Accounting Degree. Ms Arundathi Narmada Tennakoon was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants for achieving the highest overall performance in the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accounting Information Systems Degree. Mr Kuttikanda Gamaathige Chamuda Vidmal Wijayawardana was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants for obtaining the highest GPA in the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accounting Information Systems Degree and the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Certified Management Accounts of Sri Lanka for achieving the “Highest Aggregate Mark for Business Reporting Pillar” in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accounting Information Systems Degree. Mr Korale Gedara Milinda Madhusanka Senarathna was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Acumatica Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. for achieving the “Highest Aggregate Mark for Business Information Systems” in Business Management Honours in Accounting Information Systems Degree. Ms Garusinhage Adithya Sammani Jayarathna was awarded the Gold Medal presented by the Institute of Analytics (IoA) UK for being the best all round student in Internship in Accounting Information Systems in following Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accounting Information Systems Degree. Mr Chanaka Lakshan Bogoda was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Association of Professional Bankers, Sri Lanka, for being the best all round student in Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Banking and Finance. Ms Landekumbura Mudiyanselage Rashmi Vindya was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka (IBSL) for obtaining highest marks in Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Banking and Finance. Mr Dissanayaka Mudiyanselage Isuru Sathsara Dissanayaka was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Janashakthi Group for the Most outstanding student of Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Insurance and Finance. Ms Kodikarage Dona Dilki Madushani Perera was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Softlogic Life Insurance PLC for obtaining highest marks for the subject ‘Risk and Insurance Services Management’ in Bachelor of Business Management Honours Degree in Insurance and Finance. Ms Uswatte Liyanage Disara Nethuni Perera was awarded the Gold Medal offered by the Acuity knowledge Partners (Pvt) Ltd., for obtaining the highest marks in the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Financial Engineering Degree. Ms Jithmi Tharaka Gamage was awarded the Gold Medal offered by KPMG Sri Lanka, for being the most outstanding student in Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Financial Engineering Degree.
