Strip-tailed Bronzeback snake is endemic to Sri Lanka and distributed in the Lowland wet zone and submontane forests of the island. Can be distinguished from others due to its distinct body coloration.

IUCN Conservation Status - VU (Vulnerable)

ලෝකයේ දැනට Ahaetulla ගණයට අයත් සර්ප විශේෂ 10 අතුරින් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ හමුවන Ahaetulla විශේෂ දෙකෙන් එකක් ලෙස ඇහැටුල්ලා හැඳින්විය හැකි අතර 2020 වසරේ අග කාර්තුවේදී Ashok kumar mallik ඇතුළු පර්‍යේශණ කණ්ඩායම විසින් එවකට සිටි Ahaetulla විශේෂ වල පරිණාමික බන්ධුතාවන් සහ අණුක ජීව විද්‍යාත්මක කරුණු පදනම් කොටගෙන සිදු කෙරුණු විශාල පර්‍යේශණ පත්‍රිකාවකින් එවකට ලෝකයේ සිටි ඇහැටුල්ලන් විශේෂ සංඛ්‍යාව 10ක් දක්වා වැඩි වූ අතරම ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ හමුවන Ahaetulla nasuta විශේෂය සහ Ahaetulla pulverulenta විශේෂය ලංකාවට ආවේණික සර්ප විශේෂ ලෙස නම් කරන ලද අතර ඉන්දියාවේ දකුණු සහ අග්නිදිග ප්‍රදේශයන්හි හමුවන Ahaetulla විශේෂ අණුක ජීව විද්‍යාත්මකව සහ දන්ත වින්‍යාසය වැනි ඇතැම් ලක්ෂණ මඟින් වෙනත් විශේෂ ලෙස නම් කරන ලදී!

ඇහැටුල්ලා යනු රුක්වාසී සර්ප විශේෂයක් වන අතර බොහෝවිට ඇස් මට්ටමේ කුඩා ගස් මත දහවල් කාලයේ අව් රශ්මිය පතිත වන ස්ථාන වල බොහෝවිට දැක ගැනීමට හැකියාව පවතී. විශාල පරාසයක විහිදී යන උදරීය වර්ණ ප්‍රභේධනයක් දැකගත හැකි විශේෂයක් වන අතර කලාතුරකින් දුඹුරු පැහැයට හුරු වර්ණ ගන්නා වර්ණ ප්‍රභේධක්ද දැකගත හැකි වේ. සුළු විෂ සහිත සර්ප විශේෂයක් වන මොවුන් දිවයින පුරා පුළුල් ව්‍යාප්තියක් සහිත සර්ප විශේෂකි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ආවේණික මැඩියන් අයත් ගණයක් වන Taruga ගණයට අයත් ගස් මැඩියන් විශේෂ තුන අතරින් මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට උස මීටර් 1200ට වඩා ඉහල කඳුකර ප්‍රදේශ වල හමුවන මෙම Taruga eques විශේෂය වඳවීයාමේ තර්ජනයට ලක්ව ඇති මැඩියන් විශේෂයකි. "Taruga" යන යෙදුම සංස්කෘත භාෂාමය අරුතක් ඇති යෙදුමකි. මෙහි අර්ථය "ගස් මත සිටින" " ගස් නඟින" වැන්නකට සමාන වේ.
Taruga ගණයේ සියළුම මැඩියන් විශේෂ සිහින් ඇදී ගිය සිරුරක් සහ දික් වූ හොම්බක් සහිත දේහ ලක්ෂණ දරයි.

ඡායාරූපය - පිදුරුතලාගල රක්ෂිත කලාපය තුල හමුවූ පිරිමි කඳුකර ගස් මැඩියෙක්.

The rhino-horned lizard (Ceratophora stoddartii), also commonly known as Stoddart's unicorn lizard and the mountain horned agama, is a species of lizard in the family Agamidae. The species is endemic to Sri Lanka. It is called kagamuva angkatussa/ කඟමුව අං කටුස්සා in Sinhala.
