One common misconception about the Yamas in the Yoga Sutras is that they are simply personal restraints that govern how we behave towards other people.

If yoga is ultimately about integration, I think we have to look at them more holistically.

How we relate to others and to the world around us is also reflected in how we relate to ourselves.

There is no point in being non-violent towards others while constantly being violent towards yourself.

There is no point in speaking up against injustice while abandoning your own truth to fit into a life that doesn’t feel authentic.

There is no point in respecting other people’s boundaries while continuously betraying your own.

The philosophy has to reach our everyday choices.

In this series, I’ll explore how I personally understand and practice yoga philosophy ,starting with the Yoga Sutras, beyond the mat.

Yoga philosophy is something we may study intellectually first, but ultimately, it is something we have to embody.

How do you personally practice yoga philosophy in your daily life? Tell me below. I’d genuinely love to hear your perspective.

Yoga didn’t make me vegan, but it simply became impossible for me to separate my practice from my choices. Does veganism belong to yoga?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, lovingly & respectfully.

One month ago, I embarked on one of the biggest milestones of my yoga journey: leading my first 200-hour Hatha & Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at EARTHLINKS CASA.

For three immersive weeks, we poured ours hearts as a team into creating a space where we could explore yoga far beyond the asana. Together, we studied yoga as an ethical framework, a way of living, and a spiritual practice, not only for our own liberation, but in service of the collective.

Watching our students grow into confident yoga teachers has been one of the greatest honors of my career.

This dream became reality thanks to so many beautiful souls. To EARTHLINKS CASA and their incredible team, thank you for believing in us from the very beginning, trusting us to create this program, and holding us in the most nourishing cocoon throughout the training.

To our beloved Mind-Body Garden | Rosie Nina, thank you for feeding us with the most incredible meals and reminding us that tea can truly be a love language.

To our wonderful students, thank you for saying yes to this journey, for showing up with open hearts, curiosity, and unwavering dedication. You made this training what it was.

To JUST.B, thank you for being my partner in light and co-creating this vision with me. And to our dear friends who shared their gifts through kirtan, Ignacio and Gabby Stocchetti ♡, thank you for filling our hearts with devotion.

My heart is so full. ❤️

Here’s to many more lives touched through this beautiful path of yoga.

I am back in Sri Lanka for a few weeks experiencing what is the culmination of a dream I didn’t know I had when I set foot in a yoga shala for the first time.

Creating a yoga teacher training course and sharing different aspects of it, from asana to philosophy to Bhakti, is exhausting, yes, but it’s incredibly fulfilling. And it feels orchestrated, guided by a higher power.

Here’s my heartfelt prayer to my Ishvara 🙏🏽
