Opportunity: Two Research Botanist positions are open at the Botany Department of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
Location: Washington, DC
Benefits: These federal positions will be filled at the GS-12 level, with a starting salary of $99,200 and excellent benefits.
Description: The Research Botanist conducts scholarly and professional research and curation on selected plant groups in the United States National Herbarium, utilizing a broad range of modern techniques in plant systematics and evolution for collections-based research, and serves as a representative of the Department, Museum, and Smithsonian Institution in matters relating to funding, fieldwork, and public outreach concerning plants.
Qualifications: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Degree in botany or plant science. Must be a U.S. citizen.
