I recently went to a prospective client meeting. During the discussion, I asked them to share some visual references for the direction of the shoot.
They showed me a dish with perfectly looking curry leaves. I couldn’t help but make a wild guess :) — this was AI-generated.
They then asked me if I was threatened by AI as a food photographer.
My answer?
As a food photographer, I am not.
As a consumer, I am.
Every time I see a flawless, beautiful AI-generated food or product image online, I can’t help but question how much of it is a genuine representation of the actual food or product.
It looks perfect, but does it build trust?
And that reminds me why I chose what I chose.
To capture real food, real textures, real stories — the things that make people connect with a brand.
