This would perhaps be my favourite wildlife landscape for sometime..

A little backstory behind capturing this moment…

We had planned one evening game drive and a full-day game drive at Amboseli National Park. The dream shot I wanted to capture was to frame either elephants or giraffes against the Kilimanjaro Mountain, with its iconic snow-capped peak clearly visible and not hidden behind clouds.

On the first evening, we weren't lucky enough to spot elephants or giraffes in a compositionally ideal position.

But the second day turned out to be perfect. We set off at 6:30 in the morning, and the weather was on our side. The sky was clearing beautifully, and the snow-capped summit of Kilimanjaro stood in full view.

We soon spotted a herd of elephants, though initially they were a bit far from the ideal frame. We waited patiently, and thankfully, they gradually moved into position. Our safari driver was incredibly cooperative, adjusting the Land Cruiser from every possible angle to help us line up the perfect shot.

As if the scene couldn’t get more magical — a hot air balloon appeared in the sky. That’s when I wanted to capture all three elements in one frame: the elephants, the hot air balloon, and Mount Kilimanjaro in the background — with the tuskers ideally in the centre.

And finally, it all came together. I could not have expected for more.

What an unforgettable day it was.
