Mirisawetiya is one of the most ancient Stupas in Sri Lanka, situated in the ancient city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Great King Dutugamunu (161 BC to 137 BC) built the Mirisaveti Stupa after defeating King Elara. After placing the Lord Buddha's relics in the sceptre, he had gone to Tissa Wewa for a bath leaving the sceptre. After the bath he returned to the place where the sceptre was placed, and it is said that it could not be moved. The stupa was built in the place where the sceptre stood. It is believed that the great King Dutugemunu made many wishes here that have come true during his lifetime.
It is also said that he remembered that he partook a chilly curry without offering it to the Sangha. In order to punish himself he built the Mirisavetiya Dagaba. The extent of this land is about 50 acres (20 ha). Although the king Kasyapa I and Kasyapa V renovated this, from time to time it was dilapidated.

Anula Devi Stupa - Mihinthale - Sri Lanka | අනුලාදේවි චෛත්‍ය - මිහින්තලේ

Anula Devi Stupa is a ruined Buddhist place of worship situated near Mihinthale in Anuradhapura District, Sri Lanka.
The history of the site runs back to early Anuradhapura period. Queen Viharamahadevi, the mother of King Dutugemunu (161-137 B.C.) is said to have built this temple in the 2nd century B.C. It is also believed that Queen Anula got rodained as the first Bhikkuni (buddhist nun) in Sri Lanka and resided together with her fellow bhikkunis at this monastery.
The ruins of large stupa belonging to the early Anuradhapura period, potsherds, beads, terracotta figurines and the remnants of building material had been discovered from this site.

Department of Arecheology started excavation of the site on 26/12/2021. There was also a Pirikara offering "Paramitha" to more than 3500 bhikkuni's with the advise & sponsorship of Ven. Dr. Bodagama Chandima Thero.

ක්‍රි:පූ: 2 වන සියවසේ දී පමණ විහාරමහාදේවිය විසින් ඉදිකරන ලද විහාරයක් බවද ලංකාවේ ප්‍රථම භික්ෂුණිය වන අනුලා දේවිය හා තවත් පිරිසක් පැවදිව වැඩ වාසය කළ විහාරස්ථානය ලෙසද සැලකේ. ඔරුගල නමින් හැදින්වෙන ඔරුවක හැඩයට සමාන හැඩයක් ඇති ගල්තලයක්, වැඩසිටි භික්ෂුනීන් වහන්සේලාගේ සිවුරු පඬු පෙවීම සදහා යොදාගත් බවටද සාක්ෂි මෙහි තිබේ.
අනුරාධපුර යුගයේ මුල්භාගයට අයත් ස්තුපයක නටබුන් හා මැටි බදුන් කොටස්, පබළු, මැටි රූප කොටස්, ගොඩනැගිලි අවශේෂ ආදී පුරාවස්තු මෙම ස්ථානයෙන් සොයාගෙන ඇත.

කැලණිය මානෙල්වත්ත මහා විහාරයේ විහාරාධිපති ආචාර්ය පුජ්‍යපාද බෝදාගම චන්දිම නාහිමිපාණන් වහන්සේගේ අනුශාසනාවෙන් හා අනුග්‍රහයෙන් පාරමිතා - බුද්ධ ශ්‍රාවිකාවන් තුන්දහස් පන්සීයනමක් උදෙසා පිරිනැමූ මහා පරිෂ්කාර පුජාව සහ පුරාවිද්‍යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් කැණීම් කටයුතු ආරම්භ කිරීම 2021 දෙසැම්බර් 26 වනදා මෙහිදී සිදුවිය.
