The village sits at an elevation of approximately 450 meters above sea level and is located about 55 kilometres north of Beirut. Chmout is situated near the town of Maad and is roughly a 10-minute drive from the coastal area of Amchit.
The village is home to the historic religious heritage Mar Fawqa Church, which is notably framed by two large oak trees.
The village has become a destination for private getaways and events. One of its most popular spots is Soleiman Pool, a private infinity pool venue known for its panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and surrounding mountains.
