​Thought I had a nasty piece of sensor dust. There was a tiny, jagged black speck in the upper right quadrant of every portrait from yesterday’s wedding. I opened the chamber, flipped the mirror up, and used the air blower. Nothing. I looked closer with a loupe. It’s not dust. It’s a tiny, frantic pair of hands, pressed against the inside of the low-pass filter, trying to scratch its way out.

​I love the 45-point all cross-type AF system on this Canon 6D Mark II. It’s usually lightning-fast. But tonight, during a solo astrophotography shoot in the abandoned sanitarium, the Viewfinder showed 46. A single, blinking red square locked onto the pitch-black corner of the ceiling. I switched to manual. It forced itself back to auto. Whatever it's locking onto is moving down the wall.
