During my time abroad, I got to see the DMZ, take a look over into North Korea, and learn about the history between the two divided countries. In this special time of coming together with family, I can't help but think about all those families that cant be together because of the seperation. We are so grateful to get to be with our families during the holiday season. Make sure to tell them you love them sometime today!
Pic 1/2: Overlooking the merge of the Han/Injin Rivers. This is the area where North and South Korea are the closest together (460 meters). Pic 3: These are all letter and Pictures that have been traded between N and S Korean families. Most are simple updates and drawings of families, where they are living now, and what is happening in their neighborhoods.
Pic 4-6: Seeing the wishes of people wanting to reconnect
Pic 7: The "Bridge of Freedom," where 100,000 POW have been traded (13,000 from the North and 82,000 from the South).
Pic 8: the "Piano of Reunification." The strings are made from the same barbed wire that lines the entire DMZ
Pic 9-10 The last train to have tried to pass the boarder and the tracks, which have been cut off, but used to run through between the two countries
