写真の中で、どのように感情や心の機微を表現するのでしょうか。
写真家の感情は、どのようにして写真へと伝わるのでしょうか。
そして、撮影される人々は何を語り、場所や風景は私たちに何を伝えているのでしょうか。さらに、写真家と被写体との関係とは、いったいどのようなものなのでしょうか。
本作は、こうした問いを自らに課したプロジェクトです。

本作を貫く最も重要な要素は「あいまいさ」です。
都市の風景と若い女性たちの肖像が溶け合い、見る者はそこに意味を見出そうとします。
まず考えてみましょう。
風景は「不在」を象徴し、女性たちの肖像は「存在」と、その目的を訝しむような表情から距離感を感じさせる表情まで、多様な感情を映し出しています。私たちは絶えず彼女たちの表情の中に感情を読み取ろうと促されます。その結果、写真家自身の思いを、モデルたちの表情や、それと組み合わされた風景の中に見出そうとするのは、ほかならぬ私たち自身なのです。
本作で繰り返されるのは、「距離」と「近さ」というテーマの変奏です。
それは、決して深まることのなかった儚い関係性が、公の場で静かに行進していく様子を眺めているようでもあります。すべてのモデルは撮影を承諾しているからこそ、私たちは目の前にあるものを自分自身で解釈することを求められます。そして、ときには「もっと先へ進めたのではないか」という淡い憧れも感じられ
