Dive into the making of "Skinny Fish," Cambodia's very first animat...

🎬 THE FIRST OF ITS KIND 🎬

A few months ago, I came across the trailer for Skinny Fish, and I was hooked instantly. The project, the story, the visual style... I loved everything about it.

What makes it even more special: this is set to be the very first animated feature film ever produced in Cambodia. I just had to know how something like this gets made.

So I made the trip from Siem Reap to Battambang, to Phare Creative Studio ស្ទូឌីយ៉ូគំនិតច្នៃប្រឌិតហ្វារ, to see their entire creative process from the inside: storyboarding, animation, sound, dubbing... everything.

That trip turned into a documentary, coming very soon. 👀

🎉 CAPTURING THE JOY OF KHMER NEW YEAR AT WESTERN BRIDGE SCHOOL! 🎬

I had an incredible time getting behind the camera to film and edit this special project for Western Bridge School! 🏫✨

The energy, the vibrant colors, and the beautiful traditions of the Khmer New Year celebration were absolutely amazing to witness and capture. It was an absolute joy to piece together these unforgettable moments and bring the spirit of the festival to life on screen. 🇰🇭💧

A huge thank you to the students and staff for bringing so much life to this event. Check out the video below and let me know your favorite moment! 👇

✂️ STEP 3: EDITING THE MOVIE BEFORE IT EXISTS! 🎬

What is up everyone!
Welcome to step three of how Phare Creative Studio ស្ទូឌីយ៉ូគំនិតច្នៃប្រឌិតហ្វារ is making កូនត្រី Skinny Fish The Film , Cambodia's very first animated feature film! ✨

This step is where the magic really starts to click: The Animatic.

The team takes all the storyboard drawings and actually edits them together in a timeline along with the final voice recordings.

It is basically like editing the entire movie before it is even shot! This lets the director see exactly how the story plays out and fix any pacing issues easily before spending months on traditional animation. 🤯

I am currently hard at work editing my full behind-the-scenes documentary about this massive project, which will be dropping in the coming weeks!

While we wait for the official release, I'll keep breaking down their entire animation pipeline here step by step. 🍿

This groundbreaking movie is currently in the works, and they need our support to make it a reality. Please go show some love, back their project, and help bring Cambodian cinema to the world:

✍️ STEP 2: STORYBOARDING CAMBODIA'S 1ST ANIMATED MOVIE! 🎬

What is up everyone! We are back with step two of how Phare Creative Studio ស្ទូឌីយ៉ូគំនិតច្នៃប្រឌិតហ្វារ is bringing កូនត្រី Skinny Fish The Film, the very first Cambodian animated feature film, to life! ✨

Once the world and characters are designed, the team moves on to storyboarding. Before any actual animation happens, the artists draw out every single shot, scene by scene, almost exactly like a comic book. This is where they figure out the camera angles, the pacing, and how the whole story is going to flow on screen. Getting to see the original storyboards for this historic movie was absolutely insane! 🤯

I am currently hard at work editing my full behind-the-scenes documentary about this massive project, which will be dropping in the coming weeks! While we wait for the official release, I'll keep breaking down their entire animation pipeline here step by step. 🍿

🎨 STEP 1: DESIGNING CAMBODIA'S 1ST ANIMATED MOVIE! ✨

What is up everyone! Let's dive into step one of how Phare Creative Studio ស្ទូឌីយ៉ូគំនិតច្នៃប្រឌិតហ្វារ is making កូនត្រី Skinny Fish The Film, the very first Cambodian animated feature film! 🎬

It all starts with Concept Design. The team works on designing the characters, the layout, and the colors. But the craziest part? To get their unique look, they actually create physical textures by hand using things like ink, coarse salt, and water stains, then scan them into Photoshop! It gives the movie this incredible organic feel. 🤯

I am currently editing a full behind-the-scenes documentary about this amazing process, which will be dropping in the coming weeks! While we wait for the official release, I'll be breaking down their entire animation pipeline here step by step. 🍿

🎨 EXPANDING MY ARTISTIC JOURNEY IN SIEM REAP 🎶

I’ve been studying art—specifically drawing and painting—at the School of Fine Arts here in Siem Reap. It has been such an inspiring and beautiful experience so far! 🖌️🇰🇭

But today, I have some exciting news to share... I've decided to dive even deeper into Cambodian culture. In addition to my visual arts classes, I am now officially studying traditional Khmer music!

More specifically, I'm learning how to play the RoneatEk (the traditional Cambodian xylophone). It’s a completely new challenge, but the sound of this instrument is incredibly mesmerizing. I am so grateful to be able to immerse myself in both the visual and musical arts of this amazing country.

Wish me luck on this new musical adventure, and I'll be sure to share some updates
