Dear mama,

Since the day I came under your care you’ve given me everything I needed to be successful. You taught me true unconditional love through all my faults and mistakes. You’ve picked me up through my darkest days and I’m forever grateful for the person you’ve built me up to become.

You have continued to sacrifice your life to improve the lives of the less fortunate in Cambodia. I’m so proud to be your son and I wouldn’t ask for any other mother. You’ve never needed anyone, much less a man, but you’ve always cared for everyone. It warms my heart to see you allow someone else to care for you for a change, you are so deserving.

To witness the loving circle of children, grandchildren, and people who truly adore and admire you is a testament to the legacy that you have created, it’s enough to make a grown man cry.

When I left Cambodia in 2010 I would have never thought I'd come back to invest my time and energy into this country, much less call this place my home again. Growing older I began to realize how easy it is to forget the struggles that is life for the majority of the local people. I've gotten used to the conveniences of a privileged life I was fortunate enough to have received by my amazing mother who dedicated her life to adopt 6 children and take on the responibility of taking care of so many more.

I want to commend the Khmer men and women at Fountain of Hope who continue to dedicate their lives to improve the quality of life of the people of Cambodia. The work they do is examplified in the smiles and laughter they bring to the communities through love and education. It is truly inspiring to see the hope they are able to bring to a country damaged by war and poverty.
