RIP to Mrs. Bun Roeung the third generational owner of the 1920’s house situated in Wat Kor Village, Battambang, who has been for years allowing visitors to tour the beautiful boran house and seeing artifacts preserved within the house.

Lok Oknha Nou Pinet Phoeung and his wife, Mrs. Yin, had the house built in 1920 during the reign of His Majesty King Sisowath. Lok Oknha was a commander but in his later years he worked as a lawyer whilst his wife was a house wife.
Together they had seven children, one son and six daughters. After Lok Oknha’s death the house was then occupied but the sixth daughter, Ms. Nou Yieng and the fifth daughter, Mrs. Nou Phun and her spouse, Mr. Bun Chuoy, the parents of Mrs. Bun Roeung.

During the Khmer Rouge regime the house was used as a place for threshing rice and storing heavy equipment as well as used as a communal kitchen which resulted in the damage of the back half of the house which is the present kitchen.

My condolences to Mrs. Bun Roeung’s family and a thank you to opening her home into a museum for others to enjoy and appreciate.
