• Instagram.com/eyesaboutaustralia HELLO! We're Sarah & Paul.

Ever since we met in 2012, we have talked about travelling about our great country while we are still young. We've ticked off a few things over the past few years - lived overseas, built a house, worked great jobs, got engaged, got married and rescued a dog. We did our lap in 2017-18 and ended up living in the NT where the adventure doesn't stop!

These guys deserve their own post! For the last 2 years of Cambodia Vision, they have worked alongside us as translators. I think they have the hardest job of anyone - often having to break bad news to Khmer patient and fending off people who want more eyedrops or sunnies.

I’ve learnt so much from these guys and gals, and they are one of the reasons I’ll keep coming back to Cambodia Vision. They may be all off teaching in different parts of the country soon, but it’s not goodbye, it’s just see you tomorrow!

Here’s to another Choul Mouy! And hopefully no more Juii Maii Haii’s 🤣🤣

Thanks guys and gals!

Cambodia Vision 2025

3000ish patients, 598 cataract surgeries, countless drops, glasses and sunnies given out. Another fantastic year of the mission.

The Cambodian people are such stoic, polite and patient people. Many travelled for days, then waited for days just to be seen. There’s the highs of seeing blindness fixed overnight, and also the lows of not being able to help.

All in all, it’s the people that will keep me coming back - the patients, translators, volunteers, fellow optoms, surgeons, nurses and so many more! See you back again in 2026!

We’ve gotten so far behind on posting actual photos and not just stories of our travels, so I’m just going to start again from where we are now (sorry Tasmania and NSW).

How’s this for a spot? The perks of travelling essentially full time means you can score these spots midweek with no one around 👌

Low tide access only along the beach, also means less day traffic!

A little update from us…

We’ve been a bit quiet here as we’ve had some big changes to our life in the last few months. So let’s catch you up…

After an amazing six week holiday to WA in May/June with a bunch of our best mates, we quickly decided we missed our life on the road and were keen to make it a reality again. Once we got back to Darwin in early July, we decided we wanted a new vehicle for full time travel as the prado and RTT set up we had loved for the past couple of years, just wasn’t the right set up for full time travel. As luck would have it, what we thought would be a near perfect set up for us - a - popped up on Facebook just 2 days after we were back to work - so we bought it! Only problem for us was that it was in Victoria! So with little leave left after our holiday, we flew down to Melbourne and on to Ballarat late July to pick it up, and drove back to Darwin in a few days over a long weekend. We’ve since quit our jobs, sold our beloved prado, boat & most things we own. We rented out our house in Darwin and finished work at the end of September, then drove to NSW to Sarah’s folks place to set up a new base. Once some things we wanted to keep and store arrived, we left with them, and are now currently enroute to Tasmania to keep living a life on the road!

A lot has happened and it’s been a busy last few months, but we’re so excited to be living out of a vehicle again and we’re so loving our Tommy!
