My absolute favorite. You will find sexier shots of the lilac breasted roller all over the internet. When they are in flight and flashing that iridescent blue it is a sight to behold. But I like this puffy little guy just waking up in a crisp Kenyan morning.

Nakuru is like a window in time. There is something primal and ancient about its fever trees and deep forests. It is a magical place, like a real life "Jurassic Park." It is, in a word, timeless.

The eyes have it. There is something about the way a lion looks at you, through you. It's as if they can see your soul. In all my time spent with lions all over the continent, they have always struck me as very intuitive when it comes to people. They know you just by looking at you, and their behavior towards you reflects it.

Big or small, a cat is gonna lounge. This big Serengeti male looked at us with mild bemusement. ❤️

Images like this won't win any awards, but cold, freshwater fish in their natural habitat are one of my most difficult subjects. The common bluegill is most commonly photographed as some child's first catch, dangling with a hook in their mouths. Sometimes it's nice to appreciate them as they are, living parts of an ecosystem.

One of my goals with this re-work on my instagram is to highlight all manner of species, big and small. They are all keystone species to me, and we have to act now, and with conviction to combat this human-induced mass extinction event. This regal looking fellow is a Giant Kingfisher. Big amongst his Kingfisher kin, small to most of Africa, precious no matter what scale is applied.

By request. One of my favorite people loves Prairie Dogs, and "Poppy the Prairie Dog" is one of my favorite IG accounts to follow. I once spent a week essentially living in a dog town trying to photograph the critically endangered black footed ferret. No ferrets, but I am pretty sure I could speak prairie dog by the end of the experience.

I don't know how many leopards I have seen in my life, but I do know the number of leopards who have seen me while I was completely unaware, is far greater.
