The Journey of Mokoit Shoots 📸 | From Mobile Photography to a Brand
Looking back at my photography journey, it’s been nothing short of incredible! I started this journey in 2019 at Maasai Mara University with just a mobile phone, inspired by Richkid Photography (yeye alikuwa na Canon 4000D😂)
I used to shoot clips with Martin K Mwarahuri and others .(Hatukujua Editing 🤣We were pausing for the change of Scenes)
My late grandpa was so supportive of my dream(Continue resting in peace Babu😢)– I remember I lied to him that we needed cameras for me to Specialize in Broadcast Journalism course! But in truth, I didn’t buy the camera for business; I just wanted to create YouTube content since I was studying Kiswahili and Media Studies.(Yes Iam the next Rashid Abdallah🙏)
Before I got my own camera Nyakina Hedlight was kind enough to lend me hers for shoots 🙏 (Asante sana bestie angalia Mpesa Kuna soda). My passion grew stronger, and I started shooting for Maasai Mara University Media Club and the Maasai Mara University Christian Union. . A huge shoutout to Austine Otieno , who helped me with video editing and graphic design, and to Walter , who played a major role in my videography journey!
In 2020, during the pandemic, I directed Mashujaa wa Mtaa films which pushed me even further in my craft. With the help of friends, I started to rise, and soon, gigs began to come in ( Kagwah Vincent thank you for the Maasai events gigs..Nilikula nyama sana😃)weddings, birthday parties, and even corporate shoots 🎥🎉.
Today mokoit shoots photography is a brand of its own, although still growing and evolving. I am deeply grateful to my supportive clients, whose constant referrals have made all of this possible 🙌.
