Some of the best frames from any concert are not the headline moments. They are the unscripted seconds in between. During the In Jesus We Dance Concert, I had the opportunity to capture a few candid scenes that carried real emotion, confidence, joy, and presence. No posing. No rehearsed expressions. Just genuine energy in motion.

From quiet reflection in the crowd to radiant smiles on stage, these moments remind me why candid photography matters. It preserves atmosphere, personality, and the spirit of the event exactly as it happened. Concert photography is fast, unpredictable, and demanding, but that is where authentic storytelling lives.
As a photographer, I always look beyond the spotlight. Sometimes the strongest image is not the performer under stage lights, but the person feeling every beat in the audience.

Every event has a story. My role is to make sure it is remembered with clarity and style.

There’s something honest about laughter you don’t stage. This frame carries that weight.

During the In Jesus We Dance concert this past weekend, I was deep in documentation mode when this moment interrupted everything. Two gentlemen, fully locked into a shared laugh. No performance, no awareness of the lens, just a genuine exchange.
On the left, Maxwell Fundi Jr, a seasoned TV host and events MC. On the right, Alex Gvng Gvng, widely respected in EDM circles. Different crafts, same energy in that instant.

As a photographer, these are the moments that matter. Not the planned shots, but the ones that reveal character. Laughter like this does not ask for permission, it simply happens. And if you are ready, you capture it.

Caught between moments and distance.

From the vantage point of Kenyatta International Convention Centre, the clock tower at Parliament Buildings Nairobi quietly holds its ground. Framed through layers of nature, this shot reflects how time continues its course even as the city moves in rhythm around it.

Sometimes, the best perspectives are not front row. They are found across the street, through the leaves, in the spaces we almost overlook.

Fifty seconds, one clue-giver, and a room full of noise. That is where the real stories begin.

I recently documented a series of outdoor games, and one stood out for both its energy and cultural depth. Kenya at 50, also known as the 50–50 Kenyan Board Game, is not just entertainment. It is a sharp, fast-paced team experience rooted in Kenyan culture, history, and everyday life.

Designed for groups of four to twenty players, the format is simple but demanding. Teams race to reach 500 points. One player describes a word while avoiding a set of restricted terms, all within a strict 50-second window. That time pressure changes everything. You see instinct take over, communication sharpen, and personalities emerge quickly. From a photographer’s perspective, it is gold. Genuine reactions, tension, laughter, and those split-second victories you cannot stage.

What makes this game compelling is its cultural specificity. The references are local, familiar, and often nostalgic. It creates a shared rhythm among players that feels authentic, not manufactured. In a world saturated with generic content, that kind of authenticity is rare.

For game nights, this is a strong choice. It scales well, keeps participants engaged, and avoids the common issue of downtime. No one is checking their phone when the clock is ticking.

From a storytelling angle, it is visually rich. Movement, expressions, group dynamics. If you are documenting events, this kind of activity delivers layered narratives without forcing moments.

A good critique doesn’t insult the photographer. It shows them the next thing to try.
