Using coloured lit backgrounds adds an appealing aesthetic to images making the subject Pop!
This lighting setup is simple (side lighting) which aims to incorporate both light & shadows to create a dramatic effect. The addition of colour in the background serves two purposes: to provide separation & to visually stimulate the observer's eye.
Gear: Nikon D7200 paired with a 85mm f1.8G nikon lens, a visico studio strobe fitted with a 50×70cm softbox with inner diffusion,speedlight with honeycomb grid & coloured gels attached,two light stands.

Shooting using Natural light at noon without using light modifiers would most likely produce unflattering results. But the addition of an ND filter coupled with careful posing of a talented subject will produce such stunning results.
Gear: A nikon D7200 camera body paired with a 85mm f1.8G Nikon lens fitted with a 4.0 ND filter set to 2.0 stops.
Settings: iso100, f2.2 1/320s

Black & white portraits
Lighting: key light is a studio strobe fitted with a shoot through umbrella set to 2.5 pwr. The strobe is attached to a c-stand above the subject(light slightly feathered off) Second strobe placed camera right fitted with a silver reflector set to 2.0 pwr on a light stand.

Lighting: strobe fitted with a teal gel for lighting the background.second strobe lighting the product. The mirror is for bouncing some light back to the product from the bottom(fill light).
