War may have taken part of his body, but it never took away his spirit.
At just four years old, this young boy survived a brutal conflict in Goma that left him with a disability and forced his family from their home. Today, he lives in a displacement camp, carrying the scars of a war he never chose. Yet when the ball rolls across the dusty ground, he is not defined by loss he is defined by possibility.
Surrounded by friends, laughter, and the joy of football, he reminds us that resilience is stronger than adversity. His dream is simple but powerful: to become a successful footballer and build a better future for himself and his family.
This image is not a story of disability or despair. It is a story of courage, inclusion, and hope. It shows that every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves the chance to play, dream, learn, and thrive.
Humanitarian efforts must go beyond emergency response. They must invest in education, psychosocial support, inclusive sports programs, and opportunities that help children affected by conflict rebuild their confidence and pursue their ambitions.
Because sometimes, the greatest victory is refusing to let your circumstances decide your future.
