My amazing darling niece Psikolog & Homeopat Fatıma Zehra Bektaş the child psychologist knew exactly where I would love to go and made it a point to take me there. Kuzguncuk is a neighborhood that is just really pretty and picturesque. We walked a single street as usual, and went to the waterfront for chai but not before we got nibbles from the bakery. The highlight however were the houses and street life here, vibrant, lively and mesmerizing.
There is more from here but there are things that need to be lived and experienced rather than narrated. This all literally from a 2 street deep place — influencers make it look awesome and photographers see differently; I love to travel and see.

My nephew who will fly us here soon brought me to this place and damn this stuff is good. I might have even overdone eat...

My nephew who will fly us here soon brought me to this place and damn this stuff is good. I might have even overdone eating all this food but hey tomorrow never comes and neither is it guaranteed. A place worth giving yourself a 2 hour break maybe even 3 … go see the mosque, eat at Iskenderoglu and then walk thru the bazaar here so that you have space for dessert. marked for visit. I just didn’t manage to get a dainty fridge magnet or a pin.

Inside the mosque, these girls found a spot where the sun made them stand out. I offered to take a few photos and they were more than happy to stand there. The first one was a candid that I always tend to prefer when I take pictures — I am street photos at heart. Eventually I might get tagged in their instagram maybe; but for now I say teşekkürler.

What a beautiful mosque in Bursa. Ulu cami. It’s a mosque and also a sanctuary for those who want peace and calm — time to reflect in their lives. The letter below the name of the lord is phonetically a ‘wow’; it is said that Khidhr prays every daily prayer here — so he is local technically but not residing in Bursa possibly. He amongst those chosen have been given immortality — for his stories span all the way to Moses. He most certainly is a polyglot!

Actually in Bursa, ISKENDER kebab is called Bursa Kebab. The originator and father of this very popular dish was from Bursa. So Mr Yavuz Iskenderoglu is to thank for this masterpiece. If ever you get to get out of Istanbul — it’s worth the 3 hours drive. My nephew Ali drove while I looked around. Next time he said he will fly me out on a single engine. Bursa also has Tritat Trelece that does an amazing vermicelli milk dessert that will make you want to go again.

Hornets are meat eaters … nothing vegan on there! Smoked dried meat is a delicacy in some areas for sure. My friend Hasan Sofuoglu and his dear wife hosted me and made sure I was looked after and fed like I had really come from Africa.

Akyurt used to be a small township a little outside of Ankara that has grown quite a bit. My brother is buried at the cemetery here and when visiting, there was someone working on his farm, preparing for the winter that will come soon. I like these bails of hay dotting the fields and the skyline. Heard something interesting about Uruguay — how their cattle are free range and never come to rest, the cows are hardly milked and the culture is that of meat only — steaks anyone?
