FINANCIAL MILESTONE: GOVERNOR MOHAMUD ALI RECEIVES AWARD FOR TIMELY STATUTORY PAYMENTS.

The County Government of Marsabit has been honored with a national award by the County Pension Fund (CPF) for its exemplary record in the timely remittance of staff pension contributions.

The trophy was officially presented to H.E. Governor Mohamud Ali by Finance CEC Hussein Fundi. This recognition marks a major milestone for Marsabit, validating its commitment to fiscal discipline and employee welfare.

While many counties struggle with backlogs, Marsabit has consistently remitted all pension, SHIF, NSSF, and KRA obligations for the past 15 months. Backed by fast-tracked internal systems, Marsabit recently set a national benchmark as the only county in Kenya to clear August salaries by September 1st, boosting public confidence and staff morale across the board.

The designated municipal parking spaces include areas around Kenya Lodge, near the Postal Corporation of Kenya and around Jeyjey Centre.

Motorists using the designated parking areas will be required to pay the prescribed parking fees once the new system takes effect.

Municipal authorities have advised motorists who are unwilling to pay the parking charges to park their vehicles outside the town’s designated parking areas.

The municipality says the introduction of parking charges is intended to bring sanity and improve traffic and parking management within Marsabit Central Business District.

In a radio advert, Motorists and business operators have been urged to cooperate with the municipality as the new parking regime comes into effect

Heavy Winds and Rain Flagged

The acting director of Kenya Met, Edward Muriuki, signed off on the bulletin flagging Marsabit as one of the northern frontier counties experiencing high-velocity southerly and southeasterly winds. Local weather patterns also indicate that Marsabit is among the few areas in the region facing a chance of immediate rainfall during this period.

Long-Term El Niño Emergency Strategy:
Beyond the immediate 24-hour cycle, the government has placed Marsabit County on a long-term watch list due to an 81% probability of a strong El Niño weather event developing.A comprehensive national risk assessment conducted by the National Disaster Operations Centre (NDOC) warns that the incoming weather shift poses direct threats to the county, including:

Flash floods and landslides in vulnerable terrains
Accelerated risk of localized disease outbreaks
Severe damage to critical regional infrastructure.

The multi-agency mapping exercise is part of an ongoing national preparedness strategy to insulate northern counties against extreme climate shocks and minimize regional harm.
