'Lens' invites us to consider the screens, the filters, the stories, the limitations and the wishful possibilities that we layer in our vision. 

Like twisting the tiny particles of a kaleidoscope, with each fraction of a turn - Morphing, ever-changing - a limitless world of creation dances in front of our eyes.

And as we may remove one or layer another, the choice of which lens through which we choose to see, is entirely ours.

Moremi, the legendary Warrior Queen of Ile-Ife who is famed for liberating the West African Yoruba tribe from oppression in the 12th century. Still celebrated hundreds of centuries on, the fearless Heroine is remembered as the woman who sacrificed everything.

Like many unsung Queens of the Ages, Moremi was a courageous and tactful leader dedicated to protecting her people at all costs.

Today, the name Moremi has come to mean loyal, kind, and true. She is a strong (physically, mentally, and spiritually) independent woman whose purpose in life is to educate and enlighten while spreading joy.

Debut on

Sevaria .ke unveils its new approach to upcycling in this exclusive story. The fast-rising label by Nairobi-based creative Jamie Kimani, has moved into making one-of-a-kind pieces by morphing football jerseys into gender-defying silhouettes. "In Kenya, second-hand clothing is a huge business and has become part of our culture, especially for the common Kenyan (mwananchi)," Jamie tells Nataal. "On one of my thrifting adventures I stumbled upon some football jerseys, which are traditionally seen as very masculine, and that sparked the idea to experiment with them to create something striking and environmentally conscious."
