Here's the 3-step process behind this stunning image. 👉 Swipe through.
1️⃣ Capture
I photographed the flower using Portrait Mode on my Samsung Galaxy A73,Samsung Kenya Samsung creating a clean subject with a naturally blurred background.

2️⃣ Refine
In Lightroom Adobe Lightroom , I enhanced the exposure, colours, tones and fine details while preserving the flower's natural beauty.

3️⃣ Simplify
Finally, I isolated the subject in PhotoRoom Photoroom and replaced the background with pure black. The intention wasn't to alter the flower—it was to eliminate distractions, allowing the viewer to focus entirely on its form, colour and texture.

The end result is a minimalist fine art image, created with clean composition and crafted to meet print and stock-quality standards.
Photography isn't just about pressing the shutter. It's about transforming a vision into an image that communicates with intention.

A strong composition isn't about finding one beautiful subject. It's about arranging every element so that each contributes to the story. In this frame, the palm anchors the eye, the waves add movement, the layered foreground creates depth, and the open sky provides balance. None of these elements would be as effective on its own—but together, they create a scene that feels complete.

Did this boat like my lens on Wednesday?.....A few days ago (on Wednesday), I shared the photographs of this boat, that took me over six months to capture. I thought the story had ended there.... But I was wrong, yesterday, while spending the evening by the lake with friends, I met the same boat again at a popular beach resort Attela Beach Resort this time it had brought guests from Casa Kiboko to wind the evening at the resort as the sun disappeared below the horizon. All I had to do this time was to wait patiently for it to sail off then created this shots.

Some encounters happen once while others become a story... And maybe my story with this boat just begun.

Not every photograph begins with the image you planned to take.
My friends and I had gone to the lakeshore to enjoy the cool evening breeze. The sun had already dipped below the horizon, but its colours still lingered across the water.

Nearby, some guests began playing a popular local tune. A group of children who had been fishing couldn't resist the rhythm. They started dancing as they fished, turning an ordinary evening into something unforgettable.

My first instinct was simple: capture a clean silhouette against the fading light. But the children wouldn't stay still. Their movement made it almost impossible.

I took the shots anyway.
Later, while sorting through my photos, I discovered something I hadn't intended to create. Alongside the silhouette was another frame where the movement had blended into the fading light, preserving not just how the scene looked, but how it felt.

Both images were captured on my phone using Night Mode.
One freezes the moment. The other captures the rhythm.

Some of the best photographs don't happen by chance—they are earned through patience.

For over six months, I had been tracking this traditional sailboat, waiting for the perfect moment to photograph it against the setting sun. Every attempt ended in disappointment. Sometimes it would pass behind me, other times it was too far out on the lake, and often it sailed by while the sun was still too high.

On this particular evening, as the sun dipped toward the horizon, two women boarded the boat Casa Kiboko , and it slowly glided across the lake as though it were chasing the last light of the day. For what felt like an eternity, it lingered on the water, almost as if it had caught the setting sun itself. It gave me just enough time to climb onto the dock and prepare.
Moments later, the boat turned to begin its journey back. I looked toward the horizon, and there it was—the exact scene I had envisioned for months.

After six months of waiting...

Ironically, I had gone out to photograph the sunset. The light was a little too harsh for my mobile lens, so instead of forcing the shot, I looked around. That's when I found this beautiful cat and noticed the sun painting the clouds with golden reflections.

Captured using Portrait Mode on my Samsung A73, this image is a reminder that subject isolation isn't only for people. Portrait Mode created a soft, natural background blur that draws your eyes straight to the cat, while the warm golden-hour light added depth, texture, and character to its fur.

Sometimes the sunset isn't the subject—the sky is. As the sun dipped below the horizon, its golden rays reflected off the scattered clouds, transforming them into glowing brushstrokes across the evening sky. Instead of photographing the sun itself, I captured the light it left behind.

📸 Mobile Photography Tip: Beating Sunset Glare
One challenge mobile photographers often face when shooting sunrises and sunsets is lens glare and loss of contrast caused by direct sunlight hitting the camera lens. On my Samsung A73, I tried a different approach for this shot — I used Portrait Mode.

The background blur effect helped soften some of the distracting glare and haze, allowing the colors, clouds, and silhouette of the fishing boat to stand out more naturally. While Portrait Mode isn't traditionally used for landscapes, sometimes breaking the rules can lead to surprisingly beautiful results.

🌅 Mobile photography isn't about having the most expensive gear; it's about understanding your phone's strengths and using them creatively.
