*New Electric Bus Routes Launched at JKIA!*
Today, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) in partnership with Metrotrans East Africa Limited and Super Metro Limited, unveiled new bus routes from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to several key locations in Nairobi. These routes are now served by the latest 7th generation and electric commuter buses, showcasing our dedication to innovation, sustainable transportation, and improved passenger services.
The Principal Secretary, State Department for Transport, Mr. Mohamed Daghar, highlighted the numerous advantages of these electric buses, including their environmental benefits, cost-effectiveness, and quieter operations, which create a more peaceful atmosphere for both passengers and airport staff.
Hon. Caleb Kositany, KAA Board Chairman, proudly shared our achievement of Level 2 Airport Carbon Accreditation from ACI for four major airports, reflecting our strong commitment to carbon reduction and environmental sustainability. As part of our green initiatives, KAA staff are actively participating in a tree-planting campaign, contributing towards the national goal of planting 2 billion trees.
The JKIA Airport Manager emphasized that the introduction of these electric buses marks a significant stride towards our goals of environmental stewardship and providing a seamless, eco-friendly travel experience.
These new buses also feature improved accessibility options, including wheelchair ramps, ensuring that our services are inclusive and accessible to all.
