The great giant tusker of Amboseli, Kenya.

Craig lived his life beneath Mount Kilimanjaro, on the Kenyan side. In his final years, he was believed to be the largest African elephant on the planet. A few days ago, at the age of 54, he quietly passed away.

In his later life, Craig was known as a gentle giant, walking alone. I was fortunate to meet him in 2022, when my friend brought me and my talented artsculpure friend .jorgensen to see him. From a respectful distance, we watched as he grazed closer, calmly passing right by us.

It left a permanent impression on me: his enormous ears, his massive tusks, and the deep, resonant rumble of his body—set against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

I still have many elephants left to meet, but Craig will forever be special to me—and to the many people around the world who were lucky enough to encounter him ❤️

One of the important motivation factors for a seven year old to hike Svalbard mountains,, is to go treasure hunting. You’ll never know what you will find. However, one of the main prizes will always be Reindeer antlers, preferably big one’s from a bull😮

There is something in the arctic landscapes that defines it’s character:
The lack of vegetation, the water eroded mountains defined by frost and glaciers..
-And then it’s the light.. Lazerbeams of sharp sunlight, drifting along the mountainsides, painting dots of contrast highlights.
I can never get enough of this view😍

The air is arctic crisp.
Semi-darkness. Sky filled with warm colours of autum’s last light before the dark season settles.
Nature is holding its breath. Like its feeling guilty and ashamed for yesterday’s storm.
Not a sound except a few Reindeers walking around us. The Reindeer bull is trying to keep his herd gathered.
A Polarbear walked this beach a couple of days ago, but he is long gone.

We are a few good friends and my seven year old son here. He is first a timer to Svalbard, amazed of his little expedition into the North Pole Kingdom, as he calls it.
To the rest of us, this is well known territory for the last 20-30 years. But we are just as impressed by this morning, with a Sun so low on the horizon that it gives us a sunrise that lasts for hours.
