Slow moments. Big landscapes. Curious eyes.

Out on a photographic safari in the Northern Mara Conservancy, where every walk becomes an adventure and every horizon holds a story waiting to unfold.

Through the lens — and through young eyes — the Mara reveals its quiet magic: golden grasslands, scattered acacias, and the timeless rhythm of wild Africa.

This is safari beyond the vehicle.
This is connection, discovery, and learning to truly see the wild.

The Naretoi Pride has become one of Enonkishu Conservancy’s most captivating stories — a powerful, ever-growing family that embodies the resilience of the Northern Mara Cosrrvancies.

From playful to the steady confidence of the pride females leading their hunts, every sighting feels like a glimpse into a thriving ecosystem. Their presence confirms community-driven conservation makes possible: protected habitat, healthy prey populations, and lions that can truly flourish.

Here’s to the Naretoi Pride — guardians of the conservancy, symbols of strength, and daily proof that conservation works.

One by one, young Samburu men step into the center and jumps skyward, eager to outdo their friends. It’s a good-natured spectacle, full of bravado and competition. The higher a man jumps, the more worthy he is of the young ladies attention.

The Mara Raptor Project is an initiative of the Kenya Bird
of Prey Trust, which is working to reverse the fortunes of
the country’s large raptors, currently in population freefall. The stats are grim: 89 per cent of species have declined by at least 75 per cent over the past 40 years. The long-crested eagle and secretary bird, to name just
two, are both down by a catastrophic
94 per cent. Both were once abundant.
Now, you’re pushed to find them outside
a conservation area - even here in the Mara,
they’re struggling.

For over three decades, researchers in the Maasai Mara have been studying one of Africa’s most misunderstood predators — the spotted hyena. 🐆

The Mara Hyena Project, run by Michigan State University, tracks hyena clans across the Mara ecosystem, uncovering the complex social structures, communication, and intelligence that rival even primates. From cooperative hunting to intricate family bonds, these remarkable animals play a vital role in keeping the savannah ecosystem in balance.

By understanding hyenas, researchers help protect not only them, but the delicate web of life they support across the Mara.

Standing tall for science!
In the Maasai Mara, researchers are working to better understand giraffe behaviour, movement, and genetics — vital knowledge to protect one of Africa’s most iconic species. Each spot pattern, each step across the savannah helps us learn how these gentle giants adapt to a changing landscape.
