The Moving Lens

The Moving Lens Visual Creators based in Amsterdam, the NETHERLANDS. https://www.themovinglens.com/ So what is The Moving Lens all about?

We aim to capture emotions, tell stories and travel the world. The Moving Lens is all about adventure and discovery. If it were not for travel, the creators of this photographic journal would never have met. And that is why travel is the core motivation for our work. Matt, the founder of The Moving Lens, was born in France. Ever since he was a young boy he can remember having a massive appreciatio

n for music, art, wildlife, and sport. Over the years, Matt’s curiosity with photography became a full-blown passion taking him to many cities around Europe. As a result, he has had the fortune of meeting many great musicians and artists over the years. On the other side of the earth’s hemisphere, Robyn, the Creative Digital Content Creator of The Moving Lens, was living out her life in South African. She always dreamed of backpacking around Europe in winter (to see the snow of course!). And so that is exactly what she did in the winter of 2011. The couple met in Wimbledon, London in June 2012, and as the stories say – the rest is history!

Today my heart is broken 💔

Craig, Amboseli’s legendary super Tusker, has passed at 54 after a remarkable life from 1972 to 2026 in the wild. He died of natural causes, spared the cruel fate of poaching that claims so many of his kind.

Last year, I was lucky to meet Craig and spend time with him. Standing before this huge, ancient soul, I shook with emotion as he gently checked me out with his trunk, a moment I’ll carry forever. A heartfelt shoutout to , who fought tirelessly to protect him, and to the Amboseli community, who lived side by side with him.

Thank you, Craig, for the magic, the tears, and the urgent reminder to protect wild giants like you. Grateful our paths crossed.

Rest in peace, gentle giant. 🐘🖤

Early Morning Game Drive: A Symphony of Excitement ❤️

In the hush of the early morning, the wild whispers its secrets to those who listen. It’s a time when the heart races with the thrill of the unknown, when the soul soars with the beauty of the untamed, and when the world feels both vast and intimate at once.

It’s a feeling that lingers long after the drive is over, a memory etched in the heart, a reminder that the wild is always waiting, ready to share its secrets with those who seek its magic.

Thirsty Giants 🐘

These majestic creatures can drink an astonishing amount of water in a single day. On average, an adult elephant can consume anywhere from 110 to 200 liters of water per day. However, this number can vary based on several factors, including the elephant’s size, age, and environmental conditions.

Elephants require this copious amount of water for a variety of reasons. Firstly, their massive size and weight necessitate a substantial intake to stay hydrated and maintain their bodily functions. Secondly, elephants use water for cooling themselves down in hot climates. They often spray themselves and wallow in mud to protect their skin from the sun and regulate their body temperature.

Understanding the water needs of elephants is crucial for their conservation. Habitat loss and human-wildlife conflicts often disrupt their access to water sources. Conservation efforts aim to ensure that these magnificent creatures have access to the water they require to thrive in their natural habitats.

Master of deception 😈

The Fork-tailed Drongo is characterised with a narrow fork-shaped tail, red-brownish eyes, and black plumage. They’re highly aggressive and are renowned for attacking eagles and hawks, for which they apparently have no fear.

But what truly sets this bird apart is its remarkable talent for mimicry. The Drongo possesses an extensive repertoire of alarm calls, mimicking various species of birds and even mammals with precision.

This bird employs mimicry tricks fooling other creatures into believing that danger is nearby. As its prey abandons their valuable food in a state of panic, the Drongo seizes the opportunity to claim the abandoned banquet for itself.
