The allegations that our Member of Parliament is busy persuading President William Ruto to exclude Ainabkoi from his five-day development tour of the North Rift Region are disturbing and deeply insulting to the people he was elected to represent. If there is any truth to these claims, then it exposes a shocking betrayal of public trust. How can a leader deliberately stand in the way of his own constituents when the Head of State is visiting with development opportunities? Leadership is not about protecting personal interests; it is about fighting relentlessly for the people.
Why should Ainabkoi be left behind when the President is in our backyard with development goodies for the people? Are our roads less important? Are our schools, health facilities, water projects and struggling families undeserving of government attention? The people of Ainabkoi pay taxes, vote, and deserve development just like every other constituency. No individual, regardless of the office he occupies, has the moral authority to deny an entire constituency opportunities simply because of political differences, personal insecurity or selfish calculations.
Our MP must understand that Parliament is not a personal investment, and the constituency is not his private property. If he has spent his tenure pursuing personal interests at the expense of meaningful development, the people have every right to demand answers. A leader who fears his constituents seeing the Head of State assess their challenges firsthand has serious questions to answer. Ainabkoi deserves representation, not political games; development, not excuses; and action, not a legislature that sleeps on its mandate.
We therefore demand that President William Ruto visit Ainabkoi during his Uasin Gishu development tour and see for himself the realities on the ground. Let him listen to our people, inspect our neglected projects and identify what needs urgent government intervention. No MP should be allowed to stand between the President and the people. Ainabkoi is bigger than one politician, and our future must never be held hostage by personal interests.
Our MP missed yesterday's leaders meeting on planning the 5 day tour of the head of state. Sad.
