As a kid I was so naive to the battles that other kids were having around me. I was a complete jerk teasing them for their struggles. It wasn’t until I was 15 that I realised that the battles they fought were real and that growing up would be tough. It took the tears of a teenage girl who was severely affected by Scoliosis to kick sense into my naive brain. From that day on, in the school’s girl’s toilets, knocking on a locked door, with endless apologies, I vowed to change my heart. Usually I’m shaking a can for donations, but this year I decided to take the physical 30-day challenge of using my legs, a voice on social media and your support. Since discovering the work of Starlight in 2009, I’ve seen how much impact they have on the lives of kids battling illness. Giving them that little bit of reprieve from their battles by fulfilling their wishes. Today I have some friends and family who are parents that have little battlers in their lives. As I ride for them I hope you will support me, whether with donations, a word of encouragement or just sharing the stories of the these kids that I will be sharing along the way!

Why not just take a stab at a Nat Geo Travel Photographer of the year competition...

A quick capture of a shrine maiden, also known as a Miko, descending the steps of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. This shrine is dedicated to a deity who is believed to protect the samurai clans of Kamakura.

This really upsets me, especially as one of the entrants in this competition :(

I have to say, one of my favourite photographers is actually our Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. With a major in art history, I really love the natural eye she has in capturing her own family on camera. No need for a dedicated royal photographer when you can capture it yourself. There’s just a much more intimate and personal touch to it! So, to start off your week here’s some photos of the new little royal, Louis...

I’ve always had a little bit of a tiff against sharing certain places on social media. Kinda like Perth’s “secret garden.” After picking up much popularity as an Insta-worthy spot the place just got so trampled 😕

Here's a fascinating 4-minute video by vlogbrothers that tells the sad and infuriating parable of The Broccoli Tree. It's a tale that shows the dangers of

They went everywhere near the hot pool except in it. Talk about having as much patience as I could! I waited around in the cold for about 2hrs (I had a deadline to catch the coach back to the ski resort), surrounded by fellow photographers, tourists and was able to capture a few decent shots, though not the one I wanted. Such is animal photography though. It’s all about timing. I’ll be back!!! A find another place less crowded/touristy. I had to angle myself so that crowds wouldn’t be caught in the background.
