The Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex and the Milky Way Galaxy.
At an estimated distance of about 460 light years, it is one of the closest star-forming regions to the Solar System.
The complex features a mix of vibrant nebulae: blue reflection nebulae (which scatter starlight), glowing red emission nebulae (ionized by young, hot stars), and striking dark dust lanes. The complex is located just north of Antares, the brightest reddish supergiant star in the Scorpius constellation.
Best viewed during the summer months from May through August.

- Nikon D810 (modified) with Sigma 85mm. F/4 at ISO 800
- Light frames: 2min subs x 22 = 44 min
- Calibration frames: flats, darks, flat-darks
- Photographed under Bortle 4 skies during new moon on 16 May and 17 May in Chiba, Japan.
