Three years ago today I took this photo of a lone figure walking towards me along a quiet backstreet in Tokyo. It’s always carried fond memories of my first trip to Japan, and while I’m sad I won’t be heading back this year, I’m finding a different way to return to those streets.

I’m incredibly fortunate to be using this shot as the cover of my debut photobook, which is heading to print very soon. It’s full of moments like this which captures fleeting scenes and the atmosphere of Japan’s streets at night.

It’s not available just yet, but early listings are already live on Waterstones and Foyles. More news coming soon!

The low neon hum over the quiet streets of Dotonburi. I genuinely still remember some lazy jazz being played in the distance and the smell of a nearby izakaya. Such a strong memory that stuck with me from one of my visits to Osaka.
