Happy heavenly birthday to my big brother. Today we would have both turned a year older. When we were young we would joke about the frustrations of having to share a birthday with a sibling. Now I wish I could pick up the phone and call, race to see who will say happy birthday first as we did every year.
Nothing will ever be the same again.
May we find strength. For our parents and our siblings

Reconnecting.

There is no cure for grief. Then despair follows. And all we can do to ease it is to show up. In whatever way we can. It feels impossible at times but the most comforting fact to reflect on is every day we change a little bit. And hopefully one of those days we learn something new about ourselves to grow or get a little bit stronger.

I know my brother is resting in peace. The overwhelming amount of love and support these few months are a testament to his goodness and the love he shared.

But as time goes on, all the reflections, traditions, and rituals can't seem to ease the void of losing the backbone of our family. And now, every get-together, every milestone, feels empty.

مكانك خالي يا عبدالله

Today, he would have been the first one to groupcall the whole family. With something funny to say or show. Oh, how we miss you.
