🎆⚓️ 200発だからこそ地域の日常の中で咲く花火

大阪府泉佐野市で開催された
「佐野浜四町夏フェスティバル2026」。

新町・春日町・野出町・元町、4つの地域の青年団が一緒につくり上げる、地元に根ざした夏のお祭りです。

フィナーレに泉佐野漁港から打ち上げられたのは、約200発の花火。

大きな花火大会のような何千、何万発という華やかさはなくても、そこには地元の人たちが楽しみにしている夏の夜がありました。

その光は水面にも映り込み、いつもの漁港をほんのひととき、鮮やかな色に染めてくれました。

こういう地域の小さな花火も、これから大切に撮っていきたいと思います。🎆

🎆⚓️ 200 fireworks — a small display that blooms within the everyday life of the local community.

Held in Izumisano, Osaka, the Sanohama Yoncho Summer Festival 2026 is a community-rooted summer celebration organized together by the youth associations of four local neighborhoods: Shinmachi, Kasugacho, Nodecho, and Motomachi.

For the festival finale, around 200 fireworks were launched over Izumisano Fishing Port.

It may not have the scale or spectacle of a major fireworks festival with thousands or tens of thousands of shells, but this summer night was something the local community had been looking forward to.

The colorful reflections shimmered across the water, transforming the familiar fishing port for just a brief moment.

I hope to continue capturing these smaller, local fireworks displays and the special scenes they create within everyday life. 🎆

和歌山県新宮市で開催される「熊野徐福万燈祭」。

初めてこの花火を撮影したのは2017年。

その時、偶然出会ったのが撮影場所のすぐそばにある「ミュージックカフェ フォークス」のオーナーでした。

写真をきっかけに仲良くなり、それから毎年、この花火の日にオーナーに会いに行くことも楽しみのひとつに。

気がつけば、同じ場所から新宮の花火を撮り続けています。

そして今では、フォークスの店内にも私が撮影した写真を飾っていただいています。

毎年違う場所を探せば、新しい景色に出会えるかもしれない。

それでも、この花火だけはここから。

花火を撮るためだけではなく、
また会いたい人がいるから。

今年もいつもの場所から眺めた、
夜空と熊野川の水面いっぱいに広がる色鮮やかな花火。

2017年の偶然の出会いから続くご縁に、今年も感謝。🎆✨

🎆✨ Since the summer of 2017, I have been looking up at the same night sky in Shingu.

The Kumano Jofuku Mantō Festival is held in Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture.

I first photographed this fireworks display in 2017.

At that time, I happened to meet the owner of “Music Cafe FOLKS,” located just near the shooting spot.

That encounter through photography led to a friendship, and since then, visiting the owner on the night of the fireworks has become one of my yearly joys.

Before I knew it, I found myself continuing to photograph the Shingu fireworks from the same place every year.

And now, some of my photos are even displayed inside FOLKS.

If I searched for a different spot each year, I might discover new views.

And yet, for this fireworks display, I always return here.

Not just to photograph fireworks,
but because there is someone I want to see again.

This year as well, I watched from my usual spot,
as vibrant fireworks spread across the night sky and the surface of the Kumano River.

Grateful once again for the connection that began with a chance encounter in 2017. 🎆✨

🎆⛩️ 鳥居と2.5号玉の夏景色。

奈良県橿原市の夏祭りで打ち上げられた花火。

写真だけを見ると大きな花火に見えるかもしれませんが、実は「2.5号玉」。

筒場の位置から地図と方角を確認し、花火と重なる場所を探して歩きました。

そして見つけたのが、この鳥居。

打ち上げ位置を想像しながら鳥居の正面に立ち、その向こうに花火が重なる瞬間を待つことに。

夜空に花火が上がると、狙っていた鳥居の真上に大輪が咲きました。🎆⛩️

大きな花火大会のような華やかさはなくても、
地域の小さな夏祭りだからこそ出会える風景があります。

誰も撮っていなかった場所から見つけた、
鳥居と2.5号玉の夏景色。🎆

🎆⛩️ A Summer Scene of a Torii Gate and a 2.5-Shaku Firework

Fireworks launched at a summer festival in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture.

At first glance, the firework in the photo may look large, but it is actually a “2.5-shaku shell.”

I checked the location of the launch site on a map and its direction, then walked around searching for a place where the firework would align with the scene.

That’s when I found this torii gate.

Imagining the launch position, I stood directly in front of the gate and waited for the moment when the firework would rise behind it.

When the firework burst into the night sky, a large bloom appeared exactly above the torii I had been aiming for. 🎆⛩️

It may not have the grandeur of a large-scale fireworks festival, but it is precisely in these small local summer festivals that you can encounter unique scenes.

🎆🌙 雨上がりの夜、静かな境内に咲いた大輪。

2年ぶりにお邪魔した、奈良県天理市のこの場所。

この日は突然のゲリラ豪雨に見舞われ、花火の撮影も危ぶまれるほどの激しい雨。
しかし、打ち上げを前に雨は上がり、濡れた境内には雨上がりならではの静かな空気が残っていました。

今回は、特別な許可をいただき、普段とは異なる場所から撮影。

雨に濡れた木々と静かな寺院。
その先に広がる夜空には、鮮やかな花火。

2年ぶりに訪れた場所で出会えた、
雨上がりの夜だけの幻想的な夏の風景です。✨

🎆🌙 A magnificent burst of fireworks in the quiet temple grounds after the rain.

Two years after my last visit, I returned to this special place in Tenri City, Nara.

A sudden torrential downpour struck that evening, so heavy that I began to wonder whether the fireworks could even be photographed.
Fortunately, the rain stopped just before the fireworks began, leaving the temple grounds cloaked in the quiet, refreshing atmosphere of a summer night after the rain.

This time, I was fortunate enough to receive special permission to photograph from a location that is normally not accessible to photographers.

Rain-soaked trees, a tranquil temple, and beyond them, brilliant fireworks blooming across the night sky.

Two years after my last visit, I was able to capture this enchanting summer scene—
a moment that could only have existed on a night just after the rain. ✨

🎆✨ 静寂の寺に、鮮やかな青が咲いた夜。

滋賀県彦根市・高宮で開催された
「高宮納涼花火大会」。

明治から続く歴史ある花火大会で、今年も約3,950発の花火が犬上川の夜空を彩りました。

今回撮影させていただいたのは、東福寺。

室内から、中庭から、そして庭から――。
それぞれ異なる表情を見せる寺院の空間に、夜空から鮮やかなブルーの花火が降り注ぎました。

なかでも印象に残ったのが、丸窓越しに見る花火。

前回訪れた際には障子がありましたが、今回は撮影のために住職が外してくださり、丸窓いっぱいに広がる花火を捉えることができました。

静かな仏像の背後に浮かび上がる、青い大輪。

貴重な機会をいただいた住職をはじめ、関係者の皆さまに心より感謝いたします。

静寂の中に咲く、青。

🎆✨ A vivid blue blooms over a silent temple.

The Takamiya Summer Fireworks Festival, held in Takamiya, Hikone, Shiga, has a long history dating back to the Meiji era. This year, approximately 3,950 fireworks illuminated the night sky over the Inukami River.

For this shoot, I photographed the fireworks from Tofukuji Temple—from inside the temple, the courtyard, and the garden—capturing the fireworks from different perspectives.

The most memorable view was the fireworks through the temple’s round window.

During my previous visit, a shoji screen covered the window. This time, the head priest kindly removed it especially for the shoot, allowing me to capture the fireworks filling the entire round window.

A brilliant blue bloom appearing behind the serene Buddhist statue.

I am deeply grateful to the head priest and everyone involved for this special opportunity.

🎐✨ 一年の埃を払い、盧舎那仏に新たな息吹を。

奈良・東大寺で毎年8月7日の朝に行われる「お身拭い」。

高さ約15メートルの国宝・盧舎那仏坐像（大仏）に積もった一年分の埃や汚れを、僧侶や作業員が丁寧に払い落としていきます。

白装束に身を包んだ人々が大仏の上へと登り、巨大な御身を清めていく姿は、まさに圧巻。

その姿からは、古都・奈良に受け継がれてきた祈りと、夏の訪れを感じました。

一年の無事に感謝し、清らかな姿でお盆を迎える――。東大寺に受け継がれる、夏の風物詩です。🙏✨

🎐✨ Wiping Away a Year’s Worth of Dust, Welcoming a Fresh Beginning for Vairocana Buddha

Every year on the morning of August 7, a special ceremony known as “Omigunui” is held at Todai-ji Temple in Nara.

During this traditional summer ritual, priests and workers carefully remove a year’s worth of dust and dirt from the approximately 15-meter-tall National Treasure, Vairocana Buddha (Daibutsu).

Clad in white garments, they climb high onto the enormous statue to gently cleanse its sacred form—a truly breathtaking sight.

The scene carries with it a sense of devotion passed down through generations in the ancient city of Nara, as well as the arrival of summer.

With gratitude for the year that has passed, the Buddha is cleansed and prepared to welcome Obon—the traditional Buddhist season of remembrance.

A timeless summer tradition at Todai-ji Temple. 🙏✨

🎆✨ 山の向こうで咲いた奇跡の青。

第40回記念大会となる「びわ湖大花火大会」。

2026年8月6日、大津港沖から打ち上げられた約12,000発の花火を、京都市内から撮影しました。

遠距離撮影では、大気中の水蒸気やPM2.5などの影響を受けやすく、波長の短い青色の花火は特に色が失われやすいと言われています。

それでも、この日は空気が驚くほど澄み渡り、20km以上もの距離を感じさせない鮮やかな青が夜空いっぱいに広がりました。

京都タワーと古都の夜景、その奥に連なる山並み、さらにその向こうで咲くびわ湖の大輪。

これほど透明感のある青色が遠距離から写る条件は決して多くなく、自然が与えてくれた一夜限りの贈り物でした。

🎆✨ A Miracle of Blue Beyond the Mountains.

The 40th Anniversary Biwako Grand Fireworks Festival lit up the night over Lake Biwa on August 6, 2026.

This photograph was taken from Kyoto City, capturing approximately 12,000 fireworks launched from off the coast of Otsu Port.

For long-distance photography, atmospheric moisture, PM2.5, and other airborne particles tend to scatter light, making blue fireworks—whose shorter wavelengths are especially vulnerable—fade more easily.

Yet on this particular evening, the air was exceptionally clear, allowing the brilliant blue hues to remain vivid even from more than 20 kilometers away.

Kyoto Tower, the historic city skyline, the dark mountain ridges, and beyond them, the magnificent fireworks blooming over Lake Biwa—everything came together in a single frame.

Moments like this, where such pure blue survives across such a distance, are incredibly rare. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime gift from nature.

大阪府泉佐野市・りんくうアイスパークで開催された「りんくうEXPO2026」の最後を飾る打上花火。

正直、ここまで美しい花火が見られるとは思っていませんでした。

夜空いっぱいに広がる黄金の大輪が、穏やかな水面に映り込み、静かな海辺は一瞬で光に包まれる幻想的な空間へ。

「予想以上だった」

その一言では表せないほど心に残る、夏の夜の感動でした。

🎆✨ A breathtaking grand finale that lit up the seaside sky.

The fireworks display at Rinku Ice Park in Izumisano City, Osaka, brought Rinku EXPO 2026 to a spectacular close.

Honestly, I never expected the fireworks to be this beautiful.

Brilliant golden blooms filled the night sky, while their reflections shimmered across the calm water, transforming the peaceful waterfront into a truly magical scene.

“Beyond all expectations.”

Those words still can’t fully capture the excitement and emotion of that unforgettable summer night.

約3,000発の花火が夜空と水面を鮮やかに染め、その迫力ある連発は、かつて多くの人を魅了したPL花火を思い出させるような圧巻の光景でした。

今回は友人のおかげで、この特別な場所から撮影することができました。

🎆✨ A breathtaking display that brought back memories of those unforgettable summer nights.

Every year on August 1, Sayamaike Park in Osaka Sayama City hosts the Sakura Festival – Summer Blossom Night in Sayamaike, where around 3,000 fireworks illuminate the night sky and reflect beautifully across the lake.

The powerful finale and spectacular bursts reminded many people of the legendary PL Fireworks, creating an unforgettable summer scene.

Thanks to a good friend, I had the opportunity to photograph this incredible view from a very special location.
