Mejiro amongst the blossoms

This is a Japanese White Eye (Mejiro) which was playing in the blossoms today in Yoyogi Park. I picked up a new lens second hand at a used camera store. A Canon 50mm 1.4 and its 👌🏽 image quality is lovely!

Jigokudani Monkey Park, Japan - February, 2026

A long time dream to visit Japan realized. We spent a few days in Nagano, enjoying the excitement of the snow, the warmth of the people, the fantastic coffee (ODDO boasts the best I’ve had in Japan) and the relaxation of the Onsen.

One thing I’ve always wanted to do was to visit the snow monkeys. They come down from the mountains to bathe in the pools, used to the park feeding them to encourage their sticking around. It was fun to observe them as they played, fought and bathed.
