A few hours after their elopement ceremony at a private Buddhist temple in Kyoto, we wandered through the quiet back streets of the city and paused beneath the cherry blossoms.
I personally like sessions like this because they give the day a bit of breathing room.
There is space for formal portraits, quieter moments under the blossoms, and a few more natural images once the nerves have settled.
Kyoto in spring is never exactly quiet, but with a little bit of patience and local insight, you can still find pockets of calm to work with.

What a day this was two years ago - happy forthcoming anniversary N&R!
An elopement in Japan might start as N&R’s did with a pre-wedding shoot, either on the same day or another.
And with spring just round the corner, I can’t wait to tell more stories like this!

After renewing their vows in front of their children at a traditional Japanese villa we had some Shinjuku fun with my Tokyo Prelude photo package.
Boy! Was it cold that day!! Hand warmers all round were the order of the day, but they handled it like champs!
