Newly married and ready for the adventure of a lifetime, my husband and I moved to Okinawa, Japan. Talk about inspiration! Every aspect of this amazing country makes me so happy we got to live there for three years! Its no secret we would move back there in a heartbeat if the cards allowed! There is something special about this place that makes it hard not to love! We really started to travel as a family there, had our first child there and truly learned to dive head first into a culture. We learned that the best way to understand someone is to try and see life through their eyes and not your own. We learned to be open to seeing things and doing things a new way. We naturally wanted our little girl to experience everything in the most authentic way. Make friends, eat anything, try everything. The best way to do that is lead by example! We have not regretted raising our kids this way for one moment!

Growing up military moving around the world definitely put a travel bug deep in my soul!. I have never been afraid of going some place unfamiliar, never worried I won't be confident navigating the biggest cities or the most remote jungles and villages. I truly believe that is thanks to my parents being willing to take us (my brother and I) on the adventures. When dad has to work on the Island of Crete, Greece. Mom packed us up and we all went. we traveled and explored and enjoyed the locations we were in. When I was in college my parents encouraged me to study abroad in Italy. My passion stems from my childhood adventures so thank you mom and dad for igniting that spark in me! Love you so much!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Its taken me 15 years as an adult, 10 years as a wife following my marine around the world, and 8 years juggling being a mother and trying to find a sense of fufillment just for me, outside of all of those other requirements and joys in my life. I have always had a passion for culture, people and travel. Being Jacob's wife has allowed me to see corners of the world I might not have otherwise. It has allowed me to freely find myself and take time doing it. I find so much joy in making people feel seen and accepted. (its the enneagram 2 in me!) I want to say thank you to my husband for always being my compass and guiding me back to Jesus when I get a little crazy. Welcome to The Scenic Route Global, I am so glad you're here. Let me introduce myself a little. I am a thirty something ;) year old mother of three, married to a United States Marine. We move constantly and travel even more. I grew up in a military family moving all around the world. I am at my happiest when I am nearly lost in an unfamiliar country, trying to communicate in a language I barely speak, eating something I'm not sure I really want to know what it is (but man its delicious!). Adventure, travel, the unfamiliar, sometimes a little danger, definitely a side dish of discomfort, and most importantly growth. Knowledge. Understanding. Connection. Those are the things that make me feel alive. I want to sit with you, learn your story, see how you fit into this big amazing world by getting to know you. Walking beside you through times of joy and times of difficulty and capture that moment for what it is. I want you to show me your home, town, village or city. I want to introduce my kids to your kids and let them play so that they can see and build connections and not walls or prejudices. Lac rose is named for its pink waters caused by Dunaliella salina algae and is known for its high salt content. "Salt Diggers" are said to collect about 50,000-60,000 tons of salt from this one single lake a year. This man was kind enough to sell me some bagged salt and tell me about himself and his life here collecting salt. 🇸🇳

Golden Sunset from the top of Ait Benhaddou, An incredible world heritage site deep in the dessert mountains of Morocco, looking down into the valley. There is something magical about this spot. The geography is so dramatically different as you spin around taking in every angle it’s truly awe inspiring! ☀️🌴🐪🇲🇦

Walking through the old Medina in Rabat, Morocco was perhaps one of my favorite places to be in Morocco. There were surprises around every turn and this street art was one of my favorites! Stunning!
