Okay so this couple flew all the way to Tokyo to celebrate 15 years together and we picked this really pretty summer morning to shoot at Shinjuku Gyoen.

And then the sky just decided it was gonna storm lol
We got maybe 20 minutes before it started pouring. it was humid and grey and honestly kind of moody in the best way, way more interesting than another perfect sunny day tbh👍

15 years together and you could just tell they weren’t performing for the camera, they just genuinely like each other still, that’s the whole thing I try to catch.

Tokyo🗼as the backdrop, a 📞 booth as the photo studio, and a vending machine as the third wheel — this is what a night couple shoot in Tokyo actually looks like when you stop taking it so seriously.

This is my favorite kind of shoot: playful, a little chaotic and spontaneous. Summer nights in Tokyo have this energy you can’t fake — warm air, neon everywhere, an excuse to stay out late.

Found this spot on a location scout and I knew right away it was the one.

He walked her out onto this little stone platform in the middle of a koi pond, under this crooked Japanese maple tree, and got down on one knee before she even realized what was happening. Hands over her mouth. That look right before the ring comes out.

No crowds. No noise. Just water, green everywhere, and a red bridge in the background. We wandered this garden for another hour after — laughing by a waterfall, holding hands down stone paths.

This is Tokyo too — there’s always a hidden spot where the city fades right out

💍Night Proposal in the Sky

He’d been planning this for weeks and she had absolutely no clue.

We watched her chat away, completely relaxed, enjoyed the city view and then he got down on one knee and she just... stopped. Hand over her mouth, eyes wide, that half-laugh half-gasp sound people make when their brain hasn’t caught up yet. Then the tears came. Then the ring. Then everyone around them realized what just happened and started clapping.

Massive congrats to this gorgeous Aussie couple. Watching someone say yes never gets old.

She looked up expecting an ad. Instead she got “ Will You Marry Me” on a big screen near Shibuya Crossing.

He dropped to one knee in front of the crowds who had no idea they were about to watch a proposal happen in real time.

This is the kind of moment I live for. An Italian couple, a custom message on one of Shibuya’s digital displays, and a real reaction. Tears, laughter, that first kiss with Bic Camera and the bystanders as witnesses.

He got down on one knee on the deck, Tokyo Bay skyline behind him, their girls right there to witness the moment. A proposal, a family moment, and an omakase dinner all in one night.

A private yakatabune (traditional Japanese dinner boat) is a great set up for your proposal: it gets you the whole deck to yourselves — open water, skyline views, zero strangers in your shot.

The experience: a private course dinner, drinks of your choice, and a chef working right in front of you — then we step outside for the moment itself, ring box in hand, skyline glowing behind.

Tokyo Family Photography | Tokyo Tower & Shiba Park

Beat the summer heat, catch the good light. Kids on the seesaw, Tokyo Tower peeking through the trees, everyone actually smiling (yes, even the kids). Early morning is the secret.
