Some places in Japan feel timeless.

This is Kumano Taisha Shrine in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, photographed deep in the middle of the night.

The silence,
the soft sound of water,
and the faint light beyond the torii gate created an atmosphere that felt almost unreal.

Japan is not only bright cities and famous tourist spots.

静寂が宿る水の都、松江
最近はどこへ行っても賑やかだけれど、
松江には、今も「静かな時間」が守られている。

日本海、川、そして宍道湖。
水の路に寄り添うように築かれた松江城と、街のあちこちに架かる橋。
密集した都会とは違う、ゆったりとした街並みが心地いい。

かつて行商の町として栄えた歴史で、
