During our time in Japan, we took the bullet train from Kyoto to Hiroshima and spent the day visiting the Peace Memorial Museum. The Genbaku Dome was the only remaining structure when the first atomic bomb exploded on this day 80 years ago.

Today, it serves as the centerpiece to an absolutely stunning memorial site, filled with cherry blossoms in the spring

Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is one of the most popular sites in Japan, and it can get absolutely packed with people. I’d imagine that takes some of the “peaceful bamboo swaying” magic out of the air. Fortunately, we stayed at a local Ryokan in Arashiyama, so we woke up just before sunrise and enjoyed the forest with minimal crowds.

Himeji Castle was one of our absolute favorite stops in Japan. We spent nearly the whole day here exploring the castle grounds and admiring the cherry blossoms 🌸

At one point in Japan, we stayed awake for 26 hours straight (8am-10am the next day). Not for any real reason, just kept finding more and more things we wanted to do. This walk along the Philosopher’s Path was around the 22-hour mark. I’d say our philosophizing revolved mostly around:

1. Japan is the best
2. Cherry blossoms are pretty
3. This nap is going to be insane

Came for the cherry blossoms, food, and culture… stayed for the vending machines. Just your average 3am vending machine photoshoot in the streets of Kyoto. Photo 3 belongs in a museum

3 years after our original trip was canceled due to COVID, and I finally made it to Japan. The fascinating history, beautiful culture, delicious food, and absolutely jaw-dropping scenery has been amazing to experience 🇯🇵

That moment when a lion pride starts walking right at you 😳 there ended up being about 15 lions in this pride, and each of them did exactly what lions do: walk around like they own the place (because they do).

Whenever Courtny and I travel somewhere, we record a *lot* of footage. This is from 2019, when we visited the “Tunnel of Love” in Ukraine. It was incredibly pretty… the mosquitos apparently think so too. A couple of notes about this clip:

1) Yes, that is Evanescence blasting on our phone.
2) we counted 65 mosquito bites on me. Courtny only got 6. Seems unfair.
