“I take photographs to preserve what would otherwise disappear.”
As a child, I flipped through my grandfather’s yellowed postcards, street scenes that no longer existed, buildings that had been torn down. They were small windows to a world that had once existed. That fascination with impermanence stayed with me.
Whether traveling as a stewardess or cycling from Cape Town to Amsterdam, I’ve watched the world pass by in vanishing moments. I’m drawn not to the usual tourist snapshots, but to the unexpected. Such as a woman lost in thought in a Texas bar, or a quiet scene unfolding on a street.
Photography allows me to capture these transient moments, giving them meaning before they vanish. My images are an invitation to pause, look differently, and see the hidden beauty in the everyday.
Follow my journey on Substack to explore more vanishing moments and the stories they reveal.
Love,
Claudia
