Relationships often create more sustainable growth than algorithms.
There's a lot of advice about growing your business. It often feels like we're told that the key is posting more often, sharing our achievements, talking about our expertise, and staying consistent with the algorithm.
While those things have their place, I've found that the most meaningful opportunities in my business have come from something much simpler: building relationships first. When I meet someone, I'm not thinking about what they can do for my business. I'm genuinely interested in who they are, what they're building, and the challenges they're navigating. I've found that when people feel genuinely seen and cared for, they're more open to sharing their story and trusting you to support them in the ways they need.
That mindset has shaped my business from the very beginning. Most of my growth has come through word of mouth, referrals, and genuine connections rather than paid ads or cold outreach.
The relationship doesn't end once the gallery is delivered, either. One of the greatest joys of this work is seeing clients continue to grow long after we've photographed together. Whether they're stepping into a new role, launching a business, celebrating a milestone, or simply becoming more confident in themselves, I love following their journey and cheering them on.
Photography has introduced me to incredible people, but it's the relationships we've built that have made this business so meaningful.
