In my books, Tohoku ranks as the third most underrated region in Japan. It just has a quaintness to it that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it’s always a pleasure to take a drive through here (also helps that it was the first region I drove my van through when I bought it almost two years ago 🤯).

One of the highlights in Mongolia was taking out bikes from Tsetserleg through Fairfield Guesthouse and riding through the open plains, something I wish I dedicated more time to.

Three weeks in Mongolia flew by! Ken Hagen and I got to explore a bit of everything, from the towering Altai mountains in the far west, Khuvsgul Lake in the north, to a lot of the central steppe. I have so much footage, I’m stoked to get editing it and up on YouTube, and of course I’ll share some individual clips and mining vlogs on here 😉.

Kyushu, despite having been there on two extended trips in my van now, is a region I feel I have not done justice. But alas, here are some of my favourite photos from those two trips. A couple pics in here I’ve never posted, so this was an excuse to finally put them out there.

Possibly the most beautiful setting I’ve witnessed in Japan to watch the sun sink into the ocean… I was pretty low on money last month and I almost didn’t take this trip up to Hokkaido because of that, but I remembered that most of my best decisions in this van life journey across Japan.. were not financially responsible ones. Man am I glad I listened to my gut.

A few photos from Hokkaido’s “Flower Island”, which gets its nickname from being home to over 300 alpine wildflowers. An incredible place for nature appreciators.
