Photography and my ever-persisting hunger for stories has led me to meet many people. None are ever as interesting to me as the people who make the sea their home.
The ocean gives but the ocean also takes. The men and women who pull lines and make out to open water have always been the bravest among us. Whether it be sustaining us on arctic shores, to spearing giant tuna in the deep pacific, fisherman embrace the abyss, never knowing if today is the day the ocean takes what is theirs.
Here are some of my favourite shots out on the water with some of the amazing sea-goers I’ve met in my work.

I spent more time in Vietnam than most countries. The wild and rugged streets of this breathtaking land is where I crashed a motorcycle and ended up in the hospital…but it’s also where my journey into photography began.
In 2017 I spent 2 months riding from the North to the South on a cheap motorbike I bought off the street from a random chopshop in Hanoi. I immediately was hit by a truck in the mountains, spent 2 weeks recovering, then kept riding south.
This is where I brought my brother, my partner, and my sister in law to show them what “real” travelling is. Along with Anthony Bourdain, I too found purpose in the alleys of this incredible country, with nothing but a cheap plastic stool, a cold beer, a delicious bowl of noodles, and a wonder that has driven me forward every day since. Thank you Vietnam, I’ll see you again soon.

For the those calling me a liar: Here’s more footage. For 10 mins these paddleboarders followed from the north end of English bay chasing themselves whale and intentionally plunked themselves right above where it was breaching. It doesn’t matter they stopped, they intentionally followed the whale then purposefully placed themselves right above its feeding area.
North Pacific Grey Whales are an endangered species and a protected animal. It’s a crime to intentionally come within 100m of them on ANY watercraft, including paddleboards. .
For those thinking this is a stupid rule, not sure why you think you’re smarter than a marine biologist or conservationist.
