今日から八丈島🏝️
今日は午後のフライトだったし、昨日までバタバタで疲れてるから海行くのは明日からにしよう！
そう決めていた。。。
外を見たらいい感じの太陽がテカテカしているし、海は透明度いいって情報を聞くし、気付いたらダイビングの準備してた！笑
という事でサンセット底土ダイブへ！
浅瀬のサンゴエリアの所にカメがたくさんクリーニングしにきていていい感じの世界が広がっていた！
八丈島で僕の好きな光景だ！
じっくりアオウミガメを光のシャワーと一緒に撮影！
一時は海水温上昇で珊瑚が白化してしまい死んでしまった場所が多い底土ビーチですが、小さな赤ちゃん珊瑚たちが至る所で成長しているのを見ました！
これはまた5年後位がとても楽しみですね！
しばらく八丈島の冒険が続きます。

From today, I’m back on Hachijojima Island 🏝️

Since I had an afternoon flight today and was exhausted from a hectic few days, I had decided to take it easy and start diving tomorrow.

…That was the plan. 😂

But then I looked outside and saw the beautiful sunshine, and I heard that the visibility underwater was really good.

Before I knew it, I was already getting my dive gear ready! 😂

So, I decided to do a sunset dive at Sokodo Beach!

In the shallow coral area, lots of sea turtles had come in to get cleaned, creating an incredible underwater scene.

This is definitely one of my favorite sights in Hachijojima!

I took my time photographing a green sea turtle swimming through the beautiful “shower of light.” 🐢✨

There are many areas around Sokodo Beach where the coral reefs were damaged and died due to coral bleaching caused by rising seawater temperatures.

But this time, I found lots of tiny baby corals growing throughout the area!

I’m really excited to see what this place will look like in another five years or so. 🌱🪸

My adventure in Hachijojima has just begun!

タオ島・チュンポンクルーズ2日目

今回の旅で一番のお気に入りなのがこのグルクマの圧巻の群れ。
1000匹は余裕でいるであろう群れは今までにみたことがない。
どこのポイントに行けば見れるグルクマですが、2日目のチュンポンピナクル更にすごかった。
この海域の海は水深20m付近から白いモヤモヤが発生するんだけど、日によっては水面まで上がってくることもあり、透明度は一気に落ちる。
この日は13m位からまでモヤモヤがきてて、魚もモヤモヤの中を入りたくないのか、全部の魚が水深13mで見れた。
透明度はそんなに良くはなかったけど、魚の群れの奥の方を見てるとシェブロンバラクーダの1000匹玉がやってきたり、クリーニングされているここの一番の捕食者であろうオオクチイケカツオが近距離出見れたり本当にすごかったな〜
最終日はチュンポン海域へ
ここはここで面白いんだな〜
まだまだ旅は続きますよ〜

Day 2 — Koh Tao & Chumphon Dive Cruise

One of my absolute favorite moments of this trip was seeing this massive school of Indian mackerel.

I’ve seen huge schools of fish before, but I’ve never seen anything quite like this. There must have easily been over 1,000 fish in this school!

You can find these fish at many of the dive sites around Koh Tao, but on Day 2 at Chumphon Pinnacle, the school was absolutely incredible.

Around this area, a strange white haze often starts to form at around 20 meters. Depending on the day, it can rise all the way to the surface, causing the visibility to suddenly drop.

On this dive, the haze started at around 13 meters, and it seemed like the fish didn’t want to swim into it either. Almost all the fish were concentrated right around 13 meters.

The visibility wasn’t great, but when I looked deeper into the school, an enormous ball of around 1,000 Chevron Barracuda suddenly appeared!

And then, up close, I got to see one of the top predators in this area — a Talang queenfish being cleaned by cleaner fish.

It was seriously an incredible dive!

On the final day, we headed out into the Chumphon area.

And this place has its own completely different kind of excitement.

タオ島での滞在を終えてサワディダイブが主催するダイブクルーズに戻ってきました。
今回もタオ島周辺を代表する3大ポイントとチュンポン海域を潜り倒す Orient Blue Dive Center とのコラボクルーズ！
チェックダイブで潜ったポイントにはテルメアジ、そして個人的にはクサビライシが一面にある朝の柔らかい光が入った光景はとても美しかったです！
チェックダイブを終えて早速「Sail Rock」へ。
あいにくの透明度でしたが、ギンガメの群れの規模はすごい！
ずっと写真を撮ってられますね〜
そして前回も行った「Shark island」ではソフトコーラルのポリプが咲いてなかったんですが、今回は全開に咲いててくれて美しかったですよ！
そしてユメウメイロが周りにたくさん居て更に綺麗でした！

もう、ワイド撮影めっちゃ楽しいタオ島海域！！
今日も張り切ってクルーズ2日目行ってきますよー！

After finishing my stay on Koh Tao, I’m back on the dive cruise hosted by サワディダイブ!

Once again, this is a collaboration cruise with Orient Blue Dive Center, exploring the three iconic dive sites around Koh Tao as well as the Chumphon area.

At our check dive site, we encountered huge schools of juvenile horse-eye jacks. But personally, one of my favorite scenes was the beautiful morning light shining softly over a reef covered with Mushroom coral.
It was absolutely stunning!

After the check dive, we headed straight to Sail Rock.

Unfortunately, visibility wasn’t great this time, but the size of the school of Big eye trevally was incredible!
I could honestly spend all day photographing them. 😆📸

Then we headed back to Shark Island, which we also visited on our previous trip. Last time, the soft coral polyps weren’t open, but this time they were fully extended and looked absolutely beautiful!

And with so many yellowback fusiliers swimming all around the reef, the whole scene was even more spectacular. 🐠✨

I’m having SO much fun shooting wide-angle here around Koh Tao!!

Now, it’s time to get ready for Day 2 of the cruise!

タイの旅も中盤となってきました。
今回はクルーズを2航海乗る予定をしております。
それで間が少しあったので初めてタオ島に上陸をして ⚓ビッグブルーダイビング⚓ さんでダイビングをしてきました。
またまたタオ島の三大ポイントへ行ったりととても充実した2日間でした。
本当に魚影がすごくて、ずっとずっと写真を撮ってられますね。
ワイド好きにはたまらない海でした。
2日間色々教えてくれたタオ島のプロフェッショナルの大村健さんに感謝です。
そしてスタッフの皆様やご一緒したゲストの皆様もありがとうございました。

明日からまたクルーズに戻ります！
どんな海が待ってるかワクワクが止まりません。

タオ島クルーズ2日目

このクルーズの醍醐味はやはりタオ島の3大ポイントを巡るところです！
「セイルロック」、「サウスウェスト」、「チュンポンピナクル」全て行くことが出来ました！
特に感動を覚えたのはある出来事でした。
サウスウェストでの2本目でした。
相変わらずテルメアジとキンセンフエダイの何千を超える群れは圧巻でしたが、2本目入ってちょっとしたら、この海域特有の深場から栄養分豊富のモヤモヤが上がってきて何かがその周りに群れていた。
キラキラ同じ方向を見いてる魚でそれはグルクマの大群だった。
サイズはそこまで大きくはないが1000匹以上は群れていた。
水深25m付近を捕食していて、ギリギリまで撮影しましたが、こんなにもすごい群れは初めてみました！
タイの海すごい。。。。

いやーーー、タイの海最高！
旅はまだまだ続きます。

Dive Cruise Day 2 in Koh Tao 🇹🇭🤿

One of the biggest highlights of this cruise is being able to visit the three iconic dive sites around Koh Tao!

Sail Rock, Southwest Pinnacle, and Chumphon Pinnacle — we were lucky enough to dive all three!

But the most unforgettable moment came from something completely unexpected.

It happened on our second dive at Southwest Pinnacle.

As always, the massive schools of striped trevally and yellowstripe trevally, numbering in the thousands, were absolutely spectacular.

But shortly after we started our second dive, a nutrient-rich cloud of water began rising from the deep, something that is characteristic of this area.

And there were fish gathering around it.

I looked closer and saw hundreds of fish shimmering as they all moved in the same direction.

It was a massive school of Indian mackerel!

They weren’t particularly large, but there were easily more than 1,000 fish in the school.

They were actively feeding around 25 meters deep, and I stayed with them and filmed until the very last moment I could.

I’ve seen many incredible schools of fish before, but I’ve never seen a school this impressive.

The waters of Thailand are amazing…

Wow… Thailand’s underwater world is seriously incredible! 🇹🇭💙

And the journey is still far from over.

久々のタイに来ております。
今回はサワディダイブの sawasdee-aki さんが主催するタオ島クルーズへ。
タイ歴25年以上の Orient Blue Dive Center の Kanako_niconico ・にこにこかなこさんとサワディダイブのコラボクルーズです！
初日のダイビングは有名なポイント「Sail Rock」へ！
とにかく魚影が濃いこのポイント！
船の下には大きな根があってそこにギンガメアジがずっしり！
何千っていう数の魚が群れており、じっくり写真を撮ることができました。
個人的に気に入ったのはガンガゼ越しのギンガメ。笑
なかなかこんなシーンは無いかな〜と！
そして日本ではレアなワヌケヤッコもたくさん居てとても綺麗な色をしてますね！
この周辺のポイントはテルメアジの群れも圧巻です！
どこまでも続く群れは多くの人を魅了させますね！
クルーズの旅はまだまだ続きますよ！

Back in Thailand!

This time I’m joining a liveaboard around Koh Tao, hosted by サワディダイブ’s sawasdee-aki, together with Orient Blue Dive Center’s Kanako_niconico ・にこにこかなこ, who has been diving in Thailand for over 25 years.

Our first dive took us to the famous Sail Rock.

This site is absolutely packed with fish! Beneath the boat lies a huge pinnacle, surrounded by an incredible school of bigeye trevally. Thousands upon thousands of fish filled the water, giving me plenty of time to capture the scene.

My personal favorite shot was the school of trevally framed through the long-spined sea urchins. 😆
It’s not a composition you see every day!

Another highlight was the abundance of Blue-ringed angelfish, which are quite rare to see in Japan.
Their vibrant colors were stunning.

The schools of Oxeye scad around these dive sites were equally breathtaking. Watching endless rivers of fish disappear into the blue is one of those unforgettable underwater experiences.

The liveaboard adventure is just getting started, and I can’t wait to share more!

空を飛ぶように、いつだって一生懸命でカッコよかった。
誰もが目を奪われるくらい輝いていて、時にはその存在感が周りを嫉妬させるほど憧れの的だったな。
誤解されたりしたのも、それだけ眩しかったからかもしれない。
深い海の底で静かに時を重ねる零戦のように、どうかその強い信念のまま、穏やかで誇りある時間を過ごしていてほしい。
またいつか、あの情熱的な姿を見せてくれ。

Like you were soaring through the sky, you were always working hard and looking cool.
You sparkled so bright that everyone was captivated, and that overwhelming presence made you the envy of all.
Maybe the times you were misunderstood were simply because you shone too bright.
Like a Zero fighter resting quietly deep in the ocean, I hope you are spending your time in peace and pride, holding fast to your convictions.
Show me that passionate side of you again someday.

「生命の誕生」
水温が上がってくると海の生き物が産卵行動を始めます。
ここ大瀬崎では多くの生き物が子孫を残すために様々な方法で卵を守ったり、産卵しています。
赤潮もその影響でプランクトンなどが繁殖をして水面をピンクに染めます。
水中ではまるで雲の間を飛んでるようでした。
やっぱり自然は最高だな〜

"The Dawn of Life"
As water temperatures rise, marine life begins its spawning season. Here in Osezaki, countless creatures lay and protect their eggs in fascinating ways to pass their lives on to the next generation. Driven by these same conditions, plankton blooms turn the ocean’s surface a shade of pink. Diving below felt just like flying through the clouds. Nature truly is the best!

One of the most beautiful islands in the Yaeyama Islands is definitely Hatoma Island. 🏝️

Located just northeast of Iriomote Island, this tiny island is home to only about 50 people. Its peaceful atmosphere is special, but what keeps drawing me back is the incredible reef surrounding the island.

I had the chance to dive inside the reef, and it was covered with stunning branching corals and a wide variety of healthy hard corals. Seeing such a vibrant and thriving reef was truly inspiring.

八重山諸島の中でも、ぜひ訪れてほしい美しい島のひとつが「鳩間島」。

西表島の北東に位置する小さな島で、人口はわずか約50人。ゆったりとした島時間が流れる、とても穏やかな場所です。

そんな鳩間島で、僕が一番好きなのは島を囲む美しいサンゴ礁。

今回はリーフの内側を潜りましたが、一面に広がる枝サンゴをはじめ、さまざまな種類の元気なサンゴが広がっていて、本当に感動しました。

こんなにも美しく、生命力あふれる海が日本にあることを、もっとたくさんの人に知ってもらえたら嬉しいです。

この素晴らしい海の景色を、ぜひ皆さんにもお届けしたいと思います。
