Christian churches in Japan face real obstacles to growth, but remain resilient through faith. “Faithful Remnants,” a story I photographed for was one of the most personally rewarding projects I had published this year. I started shooting last December, and had the great joy of attending Christmas celebrations at Nerima Church of God in Tokyo. The congregation was warm, welcoming, and thriving in the face of challenges.

I had the sublime pleasure of stepping out of the mad crowds of Shibuya on a recent weekend evening and into the melodic confines of Pres Jazz Bar, an underground enclave named for jazz legend Lester ‘Pres’ Young. These images are part of a story on Tokyo’s listening bar scene for National Geographic Traveller UK.

The killer shot of Shibuya Crossing is by the esteemed Mark Parren Taylor and words by Daniel Stables .

I’ve had the honor of shooting two of Daniel’s music-themed articles now, the previous one being his piece on the punk and alternative scene in Kyoto.
