Nabegataki Falls is one of Japan's rare ura-mi-no-taki (behind-the-waterfall) falls, where you can actually walk behind the cascading curtain of water. Formed by volcanic activity linked to the creation of the A*o Caldera around 90,000 years ago, the falls are approximately 10 metres high and 20 metres wide, creating a dreamy, veil-like scenery that's unlike most waterfalls in Japan.
For Malaysians looking beyond Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, Nabegataki Falls is a refreshing way to experience Kyushu's natural beauty. With its easy walk, cool forest setting, and unique behind-the-waterfall view, it's a great stop for nature lovers and photographers. Pair it with A*o, Kurokawa Onsen, or a Kyushu road trip.
