The moment you look through your camera and think you are in a movie! Since then her variety and perfection in cosplay has inspired me to continue even more my journey deeper into the cosplay community.

I don't remember well how we got connected, but we were eager to know each other and we decided to meet in my hometown together with his wife.
-
For a get to know meeting at the beginning we made a 4 hours marathon, walking and talking and shooting. Time passed like a breeze and I must say I love the intense results of our session.

Being normally a con photographer and then getting to an event like Volta you are overwhellmed by all the options!!
The awesome cosplayers, the locations, the time you can invest in trying new angles and light settings...

Then get into a palace with beautiful decorated chambers, you get simply "Woooow"!!

Let's talk about storytelling photography... you prepare mood sheets and props and location and music and muscle relaxation... or you could hire Kurichan, because then you don't need to prepare anything.

You will get energy, creativity, spontaneous ideas, action, fun and great acting... you just need to trigger the camera and you will get stories in every photo! Simply unique and awesome cosplayer :)

First time shooting with fire in my life! I respect the strength of piece of cake cosplay for handling the fire sword with such an ease. It was heavy and it was hot but she swung it like a pro!! :)
-
When you see all those cosplay pictures with fire, done with photoshop, this picture seems a little bit unspectacular.
But remember what happened to make this picture possible, all the people behind:
Marco organizing this event in Italy, Mateusz flying from Poland to make the fire, Piece of Cake making the costume and travelling to Volta, me travelling 1100km to Italy, and supporting me with equipment and advice and then re-evaluate the effort handling a firesword in an abandoned NATO building ;)

Yes the special effect cannot be compared to the ones coming from a computer, but for me it was a highlight in my photography career and it felt real.
I was soo nervous because I didn't know how to freeze the fire and how to handle the camera, but in the end it was a success.

Introduction:
"Volta In Cosplay", an italian event organized by .tramonte.photo which I had the pleasure to be under the selected photographers from all over Europe.
Cosplayers and photographers meet three days at great locations to focus totally on storytelling photoshoots without any disturbances from real life or bypassers with mobile phones. One of my great experiences and adventures I will never forget...

It is always exciting meeting new people from the community, and I met Olimpia at an abandoned factory for the shooting.
-
All the planning and the chatting does not prepare you for the real person you will meet, so I am always shy and try to get more information about the personality to move into an atmosphere you can start creative teamwork.
-
Olimpia was totally in her role and she intimidated me a bit. Strong and proud she stood in her armor and the abandoned building created a movie like mood.
-
For a photographer it is always difficult shooting people while they run into your direction, the photos were incredible but many unfocused. So we switched to a walking scene and I must say the impact was higher because it created a feel of "you cannot escape"

EpicCon 2019 finally winter was over, at least from a photographic point of view :)
I started my season with a crocus shooting in the park and with a visit at EpicCon to warm up for the year.

This year was special, because I shared the corner at the con together with friends and it felt like a biiiig homebase for everyone.

2019 the year I am starting to combine landscape and cosplay photography!

As some may know, I started my journey into photography with landscapes and sunrises. Others also know that I am an Anime , comic and game fan since childhood. My dream for years, was to combine both passions into one to get the pictures in my head banned into canvas.
-
The preparation was long and I can show you some first results of landscape cosplay shootings, where I combined different photo techniques. I hope you like those experiments so I am motivated to sleep less and take more of those :)
